Luke Hurley

Post by Roughie »

Only just discovered this guy on Saturday playing in my local cafe to about 7 of us! He plays a pretty mean slide guitar (not sure which tracks they are though sorry). The text below is from his website.

Luke Hurley is a guitarist / singer songwriter from New Zealand who has been writing songs and singing them for more than 30 years.

From July 08 until late January 09 Luke was on an extended tour of Ireland, UK, France and Sweden . He is currently based back in Auckland, NZ and sometimes in Australia. You may have met him during those travels.

He has completed the equivalent of 9 albums of music over the past 30 years and has a wealth of concert material.

His real forte is fingerstyle picking and a unique style that has been described as Indian/Tabla meets Irish/Rock. He spends most of his time (when not touring)..busking--he can generally be found busking in Aukland,NZ, at the corner of Victoria & Queen Streets.

What a cool artist and talent...BUSKING! Seems to be what he loves most!

Yeah he's a really nice guy and a true artist. Busks, plays tiny gigs and large ones too. We've seen and talked to him a number of times now. He even offered to play at BBQ or party if we have one. (We'd pay him of course) He seems to have a regular Saturday gig at our local cafe. Here is a blog I wrote about him and a photo I took on my phone. http://kerrinrevell.com/2014/09/02/a-musical-weekend/

He seems to be genuinely interested in people and their stories, which is probably why he enjoys busking.

No worries Jamestkirk, glad you like.
