Yes, mj. His solo career was tremendous. Extremely talented. Here's a quote/review from Allmusic:

"Mixing country sound with a rocker's instincts and blending airy thoughts on the nature of life and love with iconography of life in the West that brought together the old and the new, Michael Nesmith reveled in contradictions on Magnetic South, making them sound as comfortable as well-worn cowboy boots and as fun as a Saturday night barn dance. His wikipedia bio is fascinating......his pioneering musical career, selling his music format idea which became MTV, producing the first grammy award winning music-video and pioneering the video medium with his Pacific Arts media company, which also produced such films as PBS's "The Civil War"....
a really talented & smart guy....still going strong as a leader/activist...he wasn't just a Monkey!

I did run in to some recent photo's of Davy some time ago. Speaking of the Monkees.
He's also still busy doing shows I l believe.
