James, Monique is incomparable while posting pictures! I cannot compete with her! :)

Last year I bought the full collection of Monty Phyton flying circus show!

I cannot believe how I took so long to do it

They were incomparable. I also own the films and my favourite is The meaning of life! A Masterpiece! Also a suggestion I would like to give: their autobiography is very, very good.

It gives powerful insights to each personality and the dinamics that made this group of 6 brilliant people to left us such masterpieces.

The world is a better place with these guys:

You know this movie was financed by Pink Floyd, George Harrison, Led Zeppelin among others. The first exhibition was a work-in-progress version and it was embarassing, according to Michael Palin. They changed the music, the tempos, a few scenes and... voilá we get another masterpiece!

TCM is showing a documentary right now on gangster films.
At 8:45 CST they're going to be showing The Public Enemy, James Cagney's first big gangster film.
At 3 AM CST they'll be showing White Heat.

Bringing Up Baby! & "gay"?

Hey, someone tell me....when or how did that great descriptive word from poetry & 18th century novels, become the catch word for.......you know.

I have a theory. Remember the scene in Bringing up Baby where Cary Grant is forced to wear a frilly bath robe when Kate Hepburn sends his suit to the dry cleaners in order to keep him around? Her bewildered "Aunt" asks Cary why he's dressed like that, and in a fit of frustration, he yells, " I don't know, I guess I've gone GAY!!"
What do you all think??

Thanks James.

If you think, reading the manuscript probably this was a film not to be done. Just imagine a producer/business man evaluating this script with a story of a young man just about to commit suicide being confronted with an alternative world presented by an old man/angel aiming to win his wings...

I'm glad those executive believe in this script, the director and the actors.

Then, then it's magic by Frank Capra. A masterpiece that will never get old. The scenarios, the people, the clothes, they do get old and vanish. But not the ideas, not the object of the film if you are looking to a masterpiece.

It's all about that: Films have an illusion of timelessness fostered by their regular, indomitable appearence (JDM, of course  ) . I'm glad this and other masterpieces come back regularly, particularly for the delight of the young generations. =)

Some trailers from great Dutch movies. If you can get them somehow, it really is worth watching these.
All made by Paul Verhoeven.

I am trying to forget that he also was resposible for the fiasco that is Showgirls. :|

I have trouble deciding when to watch Nightmare Before Christmas.....
Halloween or Christmas time. Christmas usually wins because it ends on a Christmassy note. Love it either way, The new Collectors 3CD edition is nice!! Some extras included like a b&w "Frankenweenie" that was made in '84, live action short...bizarre as usual, in a good way.

Such a fine creative genius.

yes I like it. :) I am not really crazy about Dutch movies at all. Especially the movies made last 10 to 15 years. So I liked it. Not a classic. But I think it's good.

So I don't know how many of you have heard of Hulu, it's a video site that's been around awhile that shows movies and TV shows through deals with the studios.
Anyway they had a few good movies to begin with but their selection has recently grown to include several titles that don't suck (most of what they have is crap).
Figured I'd link to some of my favorites of the bunch (US only, sorry):

The Pride of the Yankees (1942)
The Stranger (1946)
The Night of the Hunter (1955)
Some Like it Hot (1959)
In the Heat of the Night (1967)
The Professional (1994)
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (1999)
