Hello People of the Forum.

As many of you know, during the preparations of pieces for the 3rd album, Waiting For The Sun, the Doors, under the guidance recorded an arrangement of Adagio by Albinioni. It was the only instrumental piece that they did. The RMI Piano/organ was used in that as well.

TO me it was a really magnificent accomplishment. But - there is always a but - Paul Rothschild felt that it was not to his expectations and it was omitted from the final organization of the Album selections.

As a result of a recording made in 1996 in the Philadelphia Civic Center - a casual recording (Bootleg) of a recital by Thomas Hendrixson - I had just aquired a rendition of this piece played on solo roagn without any orchestral section at all.

If one or more of you will tell me how to get this out of my Windows Media player and onto a place accessable to you all I will be more than happy to let you in on this incredible recording. I can assume that many of you have heard the original version of this piece. Then, while digging out everything in the archives, they published this wonder experiment in the exotic. This third rendition really caps them all and I would like you all to hear it as a compliment to the beautiful work that the Doors did.

Let me know how to get this on an open area and I will do my absolutel best to let you hear it.

this is amazing I´d really love to hear this...but - here´s but again! - as much as I hate to tell you this...I´ve read a few days ago at The Doors forum that they may put this piece on a new boxset! I don´t know if you have the right to share this or if you just don´t care (if this is the case just ignore what I said). I felt I had to tell you this just to avoid trouble to you and this board.

I remember they got mad when they were putting out the Boot Yer Butt and the Singer Bowl version of The End "leaked" out...

By the way, have you heard these Boot Yer Butt cds? I´d like to hear your opinion.

I will try to put it on the site or whatever that is. I was really interested in letting those Doors addicts hear what it sound like as a transcription for solo Organ - especially on this one.

No one can say anything about it. It was played at a public recital and recorded though the recording is not that good because no one expected the organ to be dismantled and the building in which it stood, smashed flat.

The Doors have no claim to the Albinioni piece - it is public domain.

I have not heard any new Doors recording, regardless of the media, playlist, time of release or production company since 1971. I have not bought any of the many recordings and they never offered to give me any. They did promise me a copy of the tapes I sold to them but, like many others, Sugarman reneged on that.

I understand it Vince, they are asking people who have old tapes of The Doors to do the same thing... so go ahead and do it! If you have any trouble just send me a pm. I´ve helped Leon to record his voice in mp3 last year. Did you see that little tutorial?

OK Peeps:

I followed the instructions (I hope) provided by Sunday Trucker

The "Artist" is Unknown so it says actuall Tom Hendrixson playing the 4 Manual 86 Stop M.P. Moller organ in the former Philadelphia Civic Center - Currently a holein the ground being filled by a new Medical facility.

This piece is what Ray could have done by himself. It is performed in 1996 for the Ago Convention that was held in Phili that year. No one knew it then but that event was to be the last major performance of the organ.

Listen and try to recover fast enough for a replay. there are no copyrights, no nothing. The CD is a bootleg ofthe performance (Imagine a bootleg of an organ recital!!!!

The organ has two consoles - Unique I thenk in this case. The Big one is for the classic use of the organ in recital. But the second console control part of the main organ and has it's own section much like a theater organ and it is Full of effects, percussions and wonderful sounds. Hendrixson played a medly of music from Oklahoma on the Theater console.

Also a rendition of Tchaikofsky's Prelude in C Sharp Minor with chimes used to accent the opening chords.

The consoles wre on the main floor in front of the stage and the organ itself - pipes and chests, were located 120 feet over the main floor in the ceiling. The reverb period appears to be about 6 second. Cathedral acoustics. This recording is live with an audience.
