Hello Vince,

I was wondering if you knew if this was true or not. It was said by many on the filming of the movie that his parents only had the bust of Jim's head (which of course was sadly stolen) put on his grave when they found out the movie was being made (even Oliver Stone said this). Is this true to your knowledge and if so what are your thoughts. I know that "the boys" did not even visit the grave for many years after his death (most in the US did not even know about it for days until after his death). I read that you stated he denied his parents (which I had read), but they did not deny him. You said he was very private, why do you think he denied his parents and why would they not in his death put his denial of them aside from your perspective?? I know from articles written here where he live as a youth that he and his father did not get along very well and he did not even live with them, but his Grandparents until he left for CA. Just wondering what you know about all of this.

Jim denied his parent. Why is still a mystery since it was quite a shock when someone got curious and found that it was not only not true, but that his Father was a very high ranking Naval Officer.

I did not make it my business to inquire into the workings of his family or how they related to Jim.

I was told that under no circumstances were any attempt by his mother to contact him be succesful. I know he had a brother, Andrew and a Sister. Beyond that, I know little of Jim's family or why they were so delayed in recognizing Jim's death and burial place. I do not think ayone e-xcept his family has that answer and we should not speculate

Thanks Vince for your reply. I must say, I would never speculate about his family as it is very private. I just thought perhaps he spoke of it to you or one of the other members of the group and was looking for persepective on it. I do know he has a brother and sister and that his Father was a Naval Admiral named George Stephen Morrison (Jim lived in Clearwater, Florida near where I live in St. Pete) and there have been articles from those that knew him best and attended St. Petersburg College with him, as well as whom is believed to be his first love Mary Werbelow).

As for not coming to Paris, I did not mean that as a smack against his family as I do not know them at all (any more than any of us here know each other or our private lives, all conjecture). Only questions looking for answers to only one of the many mysteries of Jim Morrison. All I can say is may he rest in peace.

He may be resting but this raises my ire. If he had been interested in his poetry, his reading and writing he should have or would have spent more time at it and less wasting his life, money and talent in drinking parties in Paris.

things will never be different. We can only wish. What would life be like had he kept on with his career and stopped his nonsense.

Only his parents can tell us why the delay but I think it is really not our place to ask. I think I understand a bit though. Perhaps they did not want to face the crowds that were in that place initially and delayed, thinking that with time they could visit in some solitude. They surely did not want to neglect their son. Especially the Mother.

You never need justify or appologize for any questions. We are all likely speculating when we speak of Jim and his character. The facts are only what we have of his public life and times.
