Robert Plant - One of Arthur Lee's biggest rocker fans?

It seems it wasn't until Arthur Lee's final years, and after his death that Love finally recieved the attention that was LONG overdue....

Are there any bands out today that cite Love as a main influence?

There are only 2 rock legends I can think of that were heavily influenced by Love-

There were the Doors of course, and in recent years former Led Zepplin frontman Robert Plant has had nothing but praise for Love.

Was Plant a Love fan back in the day, even when he fronted his pre-Zepplin group (I think it was called 'Band Of Joy'), or did he only recently 'find Love'?

Plant was influenced by LOVE back in the 60's.
I know not manny other bands who where influenced, but one is The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

I think it was Michael Stipe of R.E.M. that said he was strongly influenced by Love (in an interview in Mojo, 10 years or so, ago).....not the 60's of course,
so you're right--I think it took awhile for the legend to grow. I'm sure many
later artists we influenced by Love...but in the 60's? No,you're right, ed
....not many.

If you can, get the Arthur Lee Benefit Concert video (boot, I'm afraid), the first half is ALL Robert Plant performing his favorite Love music!

I would absolutely say that the DOORS were influenced by Love, and Jimi Hendrix for sure.
