Yeah, last night wasn't pretty but we took 2 out of 3. We're not doing too bad considering A-Rod and Teixiera aren't hitting and Vasquez, well, don't get me started on Vasquez...........

So, not that easy for now for our english friends.
I thought it was becoming an easy game for England when Gerrard score at minute 3 but the USA sure make a good game. Very competitive and dinamic team.
Exciting games to come
Exciting...but what is with the crazy new soccer ball with a mind of its own?!!
What a time to test drive a new soccer ball design!!!
I feel great empathy for the goalies! They must be wondering where the ball will go constantly....
what a worry.

1st game of Portugal in the World Cup: mediocre.
I had few doubts but now I'm convinced about the shitty team we have in the tournament. No doubt there's only 2-3 players that would fit the great 2006 team. The rest is crap including the coach. I hope I have to swallow these words after the next two games.
Best teams so far: Germany and Holland. Waiting to see Brasil and Spain.
Maybe after two games for each team (end of the next week) we will be able to define our favourites.

New Zealand (Roughie!) blew it with that celebration...frowned on? Are
there penalties for such behavior? Too bad...setting a record &
then acting like that to sour the victory!

err.. Argentina
I like Argentina but there's an obvious desiquilibrium in the team. The strikers are excellent but the defense is not so good. Both Germany and Holland seem more complete. Also, I think Maradona still has to prove to be the right man (coach) for the job (I'm especially thinking about his emotional structure...).
Brasil seemed not at full steamn but there's this tradition that world champions usually started the competition in slow motion.
Let's see what Spain brings to the tournement.
I didn't saw New Zealand's game but the result seemed good. The "All whites" aparently did good. Congratulations Roughie
Same goes for Mexico, desertlizard It will be interesting to watch Mexico against France.
ps: I didn't watch that New Zealand celebration. What was that, James?

Winston Reid just stripped off his shirt to celebrate his last minute goal and got a yellow card. One news source made mach ado about nothing saying it marred a great comeback and was un-sportman-like conduct..
Now I see it was rather a silly comment by the news media and... hell, who wouldn't celebrate?!!
Way to go Reid!!
Big comeback New Zealand!!

Man, just watched the game Switzerland vs. Spain. Living in Switzerland it was so clear they woud lose this game. But WTF??!!! They won the game 1:0, how amazing is that. Everybody is going nuts right now!!! What a wonderful moment Of course Spain played way better, but the Swiss defense tactic was pretty good. And a good portion of luck!

I just cannot understand that stupid FIFA rule. What's wrong about that?
A different way of conducting a "decency rally"?
Some people just don't understand the emotional explosion of scoring a goal. Those people most probably never played football.
I don't remember the game or the player but I know I watch once a footbal player getting the second yellow card (consequently the red card) because he was celebrating the scoring of a goal. Can you believe such a stupid thing? It's a refined way to kill the game.
OK, there's probably some other creative ways of celebrating but taking a shirt being considered offensive? They're crazy.
ps: Spain lost I heard they played well but lost. Super defensive teams sometimes get luck. It's an old discussion: results or art? I still go with art. I downloaded some Brazil 1970 world cup games and compared it with the 1982 team. Both are amazing and for sure the best national teams I ever saw playing. That's football art. The '70 team was world champion and the '82 team lost for Italy in one bad luck day.
