Question about Paul McCartney LP

Post by MysticHeatedWine »

I thought I had just about all Paul's solo works, but I found one the other day I'm confused about. It's an LP by him called War and Peace. It's not a regular LP but is rather a test pressing. It was only 15 bucks so I grabbed it. I tried to look this up but in all the discographies of Paul I come across it's not listed. Does anyone know when this was released ? I'm guessing maybe it's from the 80's ? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

What's the track listing, Mystic?

I'm thinking you may have a test pressing of either Tug of War or Pipes Of Peace (or combination of both, since "War" & "Peace" are part of both albums)) with a proposed title that was not used.

Either way you found a treasure for sure!

Is it a Capitol/EMI or Parlophone test press? Any pix would be cool to see, please!

Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. There is no regular cover. It's just in a plain white sleeve and on the sleeve is written as follows:

Test Pressing
Paul McCartney
War and Peace

I'll have to compare the test pressing to an actual copy of that bootleg. It's possible the bootleg was sourced from this test pressing. Anyway for 15 bucks I wasn't risking much and it will be fun to listen to. :)

BBR stands for "Bird Brain Records", which is a bootleg label. If the catalog number is BBR 015, then it is definitely a bootleg disc. What does it say on the label?

There's nothing on the label of the LP. It's just an orange label with nothing written on it. Even if it's a boot it was only 15 bucks and will be cool to listen to. It's not a big deal. I was just curious. I have all the standard Beatles releases and their solo stuff but I don't collect Beatles boots. That's why I asked. Thanks again for the info. :)
