Jim Ladd let go from KLOS

Sad news. One of the best and last great radio DJ's, Jim Ladd was let go from KLOS yesterday after a "downsizing" at the station. The station was acquired by a new company earlier this year. We all know Jim was a HUGE Doors fan. He would always play obscure Doors tracks during his show. I encourage all of you to email 955KLOS and ask them wtf were they thinking.

WTF!?

Last year, I went to a lot of trouble to jerry rig an antenna on the roof of my house to receive KLOS.

Hopefully 100.3 The Sound hires him (KSWD Los Angeles). They're a much better radio station than 95.5 KLOS.

That sucks. I have heard a number of his shows and always respected him. Hopefully another station will give him a gig. He should apply to Sattelite Radio and start a Doors station. Why not ? After all, they have a Grateful Dead channel.

In case anyone cares Jim is on KFI Radio right now. It's from 4-7 Pacific time.

That's AM, right? Do you mean as a one-time thing, or has he been picked up by KFI for a regular spot?

It was a one time broadcast which aired last night from 7-10 New York time. I listened to the whole thing and tried to call in but couldn't get through. Jim talked about his dismissal and wanted to be able to say goodbye to the fans properly. His guests included John Fogerty, Roger Waters, and George Thorogood. John Densmore was on briefly at the very end. I posted my idea of his hosting an all-Doors channel on Sirius on his Facebook page and a number of people agreed with me. I hope he considers it. His Facebook operator said the broadcast will be posted online soon so people who missed it last night can catch it.
