The Complete LA Guide For Jim Morrison Fans

We're lucky to have former Doors road manager Vince Treanor here to answer fan questions and share some of his memories. Ask Vince about anything related to the equipment The Doors used, stage set-ups, specific concerts, the band after Jim's death, and working on the Oliver Stone movie.

Doors tour

Post by vince »

The Doors office at 8512 Santa Monica Blvd. has been torn down and is no more.

Otherwise I qould question tha amount of time Jim spent at the Tropicana Motel. There was a restaurant there and we did eat there on occasions. Also at the Denny's resteraunt down on La Cieniga Blvd south of the Elektra Studio. There was a waitress there that used to always take care of us. We call here "Mom". She knew everyone's favorite food. Often we would go in and sit down and the menue would appear like magic.

The Doors office began life as an auto service garage. Before the Doors moved in and did a really nice job of transformation, thanks to Bill Siddon's Uncle (Uncle Bill to all of us) it was an antique store in which the two proprietors lived. the back room, where the Doors movie was cut, was equipped with a full Kitchen but was not, to my knowledge, ever used as such while we were there.

How do you post a picture on here??

The office is still up, it's an Italian restaurant named Benvenuto Cafe. There was a rumor that they were tearing it down a few months ago, but it turned out they were just remodeling.
Here's what the area looks like today, only the Alta Cienega Motel is still what it was back then.
