1965 The best year in rock?
1967 is always sited as the YEAR, but 1965 really was the beginning and without the groundbreaking artists and albums, 1967's masterpieces would never have been.

Soooo, 1965 just may be, al least for the kids that grew up then, and for "kids" & fans born later who care about when an album was released...1965 was a pivotal year indeed! It may be hard to gain a perspective if you weren't a teen in 1965--you likely discovered the Beatles or LoVE or The Doors or Stones [etc] albums completely out of chronological order. We didn't have the internet to leak spoilers THREE years ahead of when a new album is released! Artists nowadays release a new alum every three or four years if we are lucky! And we had to spot the next new album in a record shop window on the day of release, and we didn't get the latest five star reviews online...but from our friends.

Imagine. 1965!

The Bealtes (in the USA Capital realm anyway) released four full albums and two EPs including their artistic masterpiece Rubber Soul. The Stones had FIVE I believe. DYLAN released his visionary masterpieces Bringing It All Back Home & HWY 61 Revisited. Donovan had two. The Who were introduced as were The Yardbirds (well they released Five Live in the UK but we really were unaware of them until 1965), The Animals, The Moody Blues, The Beau Brummels, The Turtles, Sonny & Cher, Lovin' Spoonful, Fred Neil, Beach Boys had three, Them, The Pretty Things, The Zombies...and of COURSE...THE BYRDS released Mr Tambourine Man AND Turn Turn Turn.

Let's see any band or artist today pull of two masterpieces in one year let alone a lifetime!!

So as far 1965 goes...can't agree MORE, Ed the Bear & John9 (from the Love forum). The best year for music was 1965

And yes...Perhaps it was being just 15 (the innocent age, at least in 1965 withOUT the internet to force kids to grow up long before their time). But the music was of a time like no time before or since.

Magical.
