Question to all record collectors

Post by Stefan »

In my Doors record collection are more than 1111 LP's.
I have 36 cover versions in my collection.
Now I intend to take this out of the collection.

What do you think about ?
Belong cover versions in a record collection like mine ?
Yes or no ?

IMO, the Cover bands don't belong. Keep it Doors only.

are you talking about records like-AMY STEWART - LIGHT MY FIRE ? if yes, I would personally take them out as it's not Jim, Ray, Robby, John but I would still keep them as they are still associated with The Doors music but that's me and I collect lots of things! example- if seen a young lion poster red, and I seen a green one- I'd keep them both! so is hard to say, but some don't have a lot of value either so I'd say KEEP THEM!
my name Kris Bowers / KBWILDCHILD, I love The Doors

well, i do have Jose Feliciano's Light My Fire LP (currently avaialable),

so, if they are cover versions i think that you can keep it, but if they are tribute bands ... isn't ok for me

Yes, I think you should remove these from your collection.

Personally, I also ignore the post-Morrison records, live recordings with the 3 remaining Doors .... but that is just a matter of taste.

Thanks for your opinions.
I am more and more of the opinion that cover versions are part of it.
My record collection is not only Doors, but around the Doors.
These include cover versions, tribute LPs and samplers.
I try to get at least one cover version of each song.

I have ALL the 45s from Break On Through to Tree Trunk. I owned them for over 25 years and am considering offering them as a collection on ebay. Have many radio play only I just never look or listen to them wonder if I should pass them on to someone that can enjoy them? For people that don't know many of the mixes are very different and some are not even the same take.

What condition are those 45s? I consider getting all related to the first two albums.. but how can I stop there?

Some are A some are D but it is complete with all the Spun Gold and even some jukebox 45s. I have to make a list. I must have a dozen Light my Fire 45s.
