50th anniversary - Spoilers

Post by Mystery Train »

Last week I had the opportunity to ask Robby about upcoming plans for the 50th anniversary. I was at his concert at the Whisky and talked after the show backstage. Time was limited and there were many people. But here's what he said. Attention: spoiler alert!

- Special event in Europe in June and posibbly August.
- Isle of Wight will come out and that's the unseen footage they refered to.
- Ray tribute comes out
- Full Matrix? He was like: you already got that one. I'm like: yes, but now you have the master reels?! He's like: Ok, I'll put that on my agenda. Didn't sound like they're planning it... The next I saw him again backstage and told him to please put the Matrix out, lol.
- he didn't say something about more plans, but who knows?

Anyway, this was just a talk and doesn't mean things will come out like this. But I thought I'd let u all know.

Who knows but I doubt Waylon would ever try to imitate Jim.

Really great news. I hope they will do some touring of Europe because I've already planned a trip to London in June and I couldn't afford another one close to that.
I'm really happy for the two shows they are releasing, too bad for the Matrix.

Thanks. So that confirms what i thought, so what is the second intended film release that John referred to as ' seen'? A rerelease of something?

For sure. I'd risk a great sum of money on it.

I can't really say mine is just a burnt copy so I don't know the source. I just merly mentioned it because I thought I had heard Rothschild or Botnick had a recording.

Bruce recorded it, but claims the tape is lost. I doubt it's lost since Shaw said he heard it at the Doors office and most of the circulating copies come from Shaw one way or the other. But, I don't see that one getting an official release. The hope of an uncut Matrix is diminishing, so I don't see Hawaii being a higher priority.

Awful mix. They should have left at its rawest as Abram's samples were.

Gosh.. even if they release this in its entirety, the sonics will not be safe and sound at all...

Haven't they been off the table for quite some time? Perhaps if the band ever offers downloadable content from its website, those shows will become officially available, but I would be shocked to see CD releases of those concerts.

It seems that the film about Ray is going to be called "Break on Thru — a Tribute to Ray Manzarek & The Doors"
Also, "Meetings with Remarkable Musicians", the new book by John, is about to be released.

Apparently, even Billboard is full of shit, discarding their own past with such embellishments to make a better paragraph:

"The (debut) album wound up peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 when it was released, launching the hits "Light My Fire" and "Break On Through (To The Other Side)" and has been certified four-times platinum."
