Are live versions of all of the Doors albums planned?

Post by StrangeNightOfStone »

With a companion Matrix disc with the 50th anniversary release of the Doors debut album, and live versions of some of the songs therein, I'm wondering if the Doors camp have a similar plan for anniversary reissues of their other albums; to be accompanied by live discs. Here are some possibile examples of specific performances of songs that could be used.

Songs for which there are no available live versions have been omitted:

A live Strange Days disc:

Strange Days from the London Fog
You're Lost Little Girl from Stockholm
Love Me Two Times from Danish tv
Unhappy Girl from.the Matrix
Moonlight Drive/Horse Lattitudes from Hollywood Bowl
People Are Strange from the Matrix
My Eyes Have Seen You from the Matrix
I can't see Your Face In My Mind from the Matrix
WTMO from the Matrix (but preferably Danish tv)

For a live Waiting For The Sun disc:

Hello I Love You from the Hollywood Bowl
Love Street from Stockholm
The Celebration of the Lizard from the Aquarius
Summer's Almost Gone from the Matrix
Unknown Soldier from Danish tv
Spanish Caravan from rhe Hollywood Bowl
Five To One from Stockholm

For a live The Soft Parade disc:

Tell All The People from Critique
Touch Me from the Aquarius
Wild Child from Stockholm
Wishful Sinful from Critique
The Soft Parade from Critique

For a live Morrison Hotel disc:

Roadhouse Blues from Vancouver
You Make Me Real from the London Fog
Peace Frog/Blue Sunday from Felt Forum
Ship of Fools from Isle of Wight
The Spy from Boston Arena
Maggie MCGILL from.Aquarius

A live LA Woman might be tricky as few songs exist on soundboard quality

The Changeling (Dallas)
Love Her Madly (Dallas)
The Changeling/Cars Hiss By My Window (Aquarius )
Been Down So Long (Philadelphia Spectrum )
LA Woman (Dallas)
Crawling King Snake (Felt Forum)
The Wasp (Hollywood Bowl)
You Need Meat (Aquarius)
Riders on the Storm (Dallas)

Would you pick different performances of the tracks? Do you think think this is what the Doors camp have planned in the coming years?

I have always wondered about this. It would be cool to see although the only album to have every track from the studio counterpart would be Strange Days. That's one thing I always thought lacked from there live recordings especially later on was the diversity of the track list. It would be nice to see a 'live Strange Days' album as a RSD excusive.
Potentially, they could 'fill in' the missing tracks with rare songs from that era from the recordings. Maybe do COTL for those missing on WFTS, Who Scared you in Soft Parade, and Palace in the Canyon on LAW.

The matrix cow will be milked a lot, i mean with songs from the Matrix can fill Strange Days and part of WFTS (and also add some extras)

Botnick once said, that back in the day, he pitched the idea to Rothchild about releasing a live version of each studio album.

It was me who first suggested that. Pats typically repeats some of the smart thoughts without adding ANY real merits. A real prick, acting big-time.

It is not a bad idea for a couple of the albums, but it becomes a bit of an underwhelming undertaking for albums such as LA Woman and Soft Parade where the material is simply not there in any compelling way to deliver a relatively complete picture. I think the proposed track-listings for Strange Days and Waiting For The Sun are interesting -- that being said, do The Doors have access to the Stockholm tapes? Granted, they could just release the booted versions like they did with The Matrix in '08. Perhaps bonus discs could include live material and relevant studio outtakes. The omission of outtake material for the debut box set was an appalling creative decision by the band and its management.

Having heard all the versions in these track lists, I'd say it's pointless unless they contain serious sonic upgrades or new sources tapes for the material.

If we had Dallas and New Orleans stage recordings we would have most of La Woman.

There used to be rumours of a live version of Yes the River Knows from 69, but my instincts tell me this is baloney. Also rumours of a live versionn of WFTS sometime in 1970, which also kinda feels unlikely, but you never know... the drums and guitars were clearly recorded during Morrison Hotel. Fuzz keys remind me of the WFTS album but whatever.

Good track listing!
A companion disk of live or outtake material sans Led Zeppelin and their reissues would be welcome by me.
