What happens to your collection?

My wife (and others) have asked me a number of times what will happen or what I want to have happen to my Doors (and vinyl) collection when I pass away.

I can never really answer as I don't think my collection is terribly important to anyone other than me and I don't really have anything THAT collectable.

Has anyone else thought about this?

My nephew...he always says that he wished he had lived in the 60's--I always have a story to relate of the fabulous 60's!

. He has just started collecting vinyl in the last year or so; now he heads out to records shops on weekends. and he already has several hundred LPS on vinyl. Won't listen to anything but his vinyl on a turntable nowadays. A good, smart kid!

My collection goes to my son.Although he doesn't have the same taste in music as I have.One day he has to decide what to do with a room full of vinyl and memorabila! I got about 10 or so concert posters, maybe he will hang those on his wall.Somehow I do hope the whole collection stays in the family, afterall it tells the story of my life, it took years to collect the stuff.It's like Art in a way.

My youngest may be interested one day. She seems to love music and really feel it.

That is a very good question!

Now I'm 51, not old ... but ... also not young.
I have in my collection more than 1000 LP's ... worth a lot of money.
Those who inherit me have no interest.

I'll probably auction it and donate the proceeds.
What I do not like in this case: It gets my collection who pays the most.
Most likely not a "real" fan, just someone with a lot of money.

I'm thinking about selling my record collection.
Current Status 1158 records.
I have a list from my collection ... with pictures ...

Why I do this ?
I do not feel like it anymore.
There are so many other things in the world ...

Less than $ 10,000 I do not accept ... so, please only serious offers.
Discuss why I do this ... okay, but please, my english is limited.

Sad to hear you are departing from your obsession but can understand you got exhausted in the process. With that said, hope I am never going to depart from mine, which is researching Doors photos and history. Guess because it is less exhaustive, I will keep on doing it for another 15 years as well.

Wish you could sell it for much more than just 10k. Maybe you should sell it separately, in a lot of all editions of each album to milk the best out of them.

Now that is is one tough question, considering I've got a variety of things and just not collect one thing (example I don't just collect 33s or books, I collect nearly almost everything I can get my hands on, even if it's a picture edit I will still save it and no bullshit no lies, I'm close to 1500 items at 25) I honestly I don't know what I will do with it and I don't know why I am so obsessed with Jim Morrison and The Doors, their is never a day or night go by without me looking for something or saving a picture or pictures so it's a really tough decision- and since I've got ss stuff much older fans or collectors are looking for, I will guess I will keep it all to the day I die I guess and when someone (hopefully that will give me chance) I will help them as I feel the doors are the only band don't manage themselves as why can't we get no releases? it's because don't got jim or ray permission? yeah so I don't know, I just know I'm happy with what I have and yes I admit I have few fake things but I don't care what my haters have to say- I love and Breath the Doors everyday every night, it just sucks I am not social etiquette and can't reply in full like how you all do, or tell differences in audios etc so as jim quotes 'I like the friends I gathered on this small raft'

I used to collect Led Zeppelin and stopped years ago. I've sold a lot of it and before I did, I sent photos to the official LedZeppelin.com site so they are there forever. I even got credit in their "Presence" Deluxe Box set.

You all should take photos so you have them forever, even after the collection is physically gone.
