What do you collectors know about the first(?) "Break On Through" single? I think it has a yellow label. I remember some years ago that Rainer M was looking for a copy. Is it a very rare 45?

Was it this Yellow/Black label? Here is a scan from the 45 in my collection. Yes, it could be considered rare especially in NM cond.

Do you know if originally this "yellow /black " label came w/ the well known picture sleeve??? Mine (w/ pic sleeve) has "pink/ red "label, seems to be the 2nd press of this single.

That looks like the single I'm talking about that RM wanted. He posted a picture of the LMF version and said he wanted BOT with the same label.

I've always thought that the above Yellow/Black label was a Canadian pressing. Other's would say it's the first American Elektra pressing.

Heinz Gerstenmeyer ( a freaky German collector of Doors vinyls)claimed in his book(" sounds for your soul", a great book in my opinion)that this single , the yellow/ black label was released in USA in April 67, & the pink/ red one in June 67.

He was quite surprised, and he wanted to know where I got it and if I could email it to him.
I'm just going to print off all of the pictures on photo paper and bring them to Cleveland.
He showed it to Ray and Brett, and told Ray the names of some of the guys in the band.

Hey, this is a real cool thread. Here are some photos of my Ray junk... sorry for the weak quality on the photos

Sealed 8 track of The Whole Thing and a sealed long box of The Golden Scarab.

Image

Sealed copies of The Whole Thing. I bought the first one of these a while back, way before I had ever transfered an LP to digital. I wish I would have saved it for when I knew what I was doing... oh well. The second copy was indeed also sealed, but it came to me in warped, unplayable shape. That was a bummer.

Image

Sealed LP of the golden scarab. This one I've never opened up, so I cant verify if the seal is legit, but I think I picked it up for $10 or less, so I wouldnt be too heartbroken either way

Image

1983 Press Release for Carmina Burana. Came across this at a flea market and snagged it for $4

Image

Not Ray related, but here's the Butts Band debut album, still sealed

Welcome to Nite City

The debut album... one of these is a US pressing, one is made for the Canadian market (has a little maple leaf flag on it)

Image

Nite City: Golden Days, Diamond Nights. I've owned two copies of this... the first one I paid $105 for (outbidding Kerry H) and then the second one I managed to snag for $15 shipped from Germany. I ended up selling one of them when I was strapped for cash. The one I kept has a nice jacket, but both had pretty beat up records inside

Image

Image

Two Nite City prints. These are cool prints that are in need of some restoration. I've wanted to get nice scans of them made and/or have them re-mounted, but I've never followed through with it. They were found in the crawl space of a record label employee in Phoenix. I really like these

Image

Image

A jumbo, oversized Nite City matchbook.

Image

Image

Flip it open and it's autographed by the band

Nite City promo folder. Inside the folder is 3 articles about the band, 3 8x10 glossy promo photos and 2 backstage passes. I used to have nice scans of these I made in college, but I think I lost those in a reformat. Sorry for the shitty photo quality

Image

Image

Image

Image

I think one of those backstage passes came with the kit... the other I probably picked up somewhere else.

Probably my favorite thing... the infamous Nite City belt buckle. Wore it to my first D21c show in July of 2003. Met Ray after the show and he really dug it... told me that it was hip. In August of 03 in Atlanta, I got Ray to sign it for me. I wish I could find another one to wear... it's a sweet looking buckle.

Image

Image

And last but not least, a turtle flute that Ray played during the South American D21c tour of fall 2004. This particular one was played in Mexico, during When The Music's Over. It really added a cool effect during the song. In April of 2005, I had it signed by Ian, Ty and Robert Mirabal- the indian flute player that the D21c had for an opening act. Robert was really cool and played the flute before signing it. This past week, i brought it with me to the Riders show in Chicago and finally got Ray to sign it. Robby, Phil and Brett added their names to it as well. All I'm missing is Angelo.
