I love it! For me better than Stereo because it is very different. I've read 50/50 on some better in mono, some in stereo depending on the track & the reviewer. But either way, the White album is amazing and groundbreaking ..once again, Beatles!

I think there always was the hope that a mono Abbey Road would show up since Across The Universe showed up in mono AND "You Know My Name.." was mixed in mono only, but NO...it was too late...the stereo era had officially arrived by then.

Some other interesting mono discoveries are on the MONO MASTERS double bonus. Across The Universe is a completely different track that starts with a bunch of singing birds and then the flapping wings of water fowl taking off on the water...very different steel/wah wah guitar parts and a high HIGH harmony by what seems to be a child like voice...NOT Yoko as it is in tune!!
"The Inner Light" is great and Hey Jude is a richer experience and I love "YES IT IS" always... and Love Me Do (original single version). No disappointments.

Guess I will go the the Beatle Box psot to finish this!!

Here is a very Syd-like, Floyd, beautiful psych song by Kaleidoscope--brilliant!

Give a listen, Mon and Ed, twilla and Nicole, eni and any who love psych...Ballroom, do you like this great 60's psych band?

...come all the unbelievers, feel the grief that's in her brow...

Pretty good. I had heard of a Kaleidoscope from the U.K., but hadn't heard any of their songs. How is their 1st LP?

It is on my list of BEST debut albums...no small feat. Their second is great too, but Tangerine Dream (1st) is brilliant. The track above is from their second LP (Faintly Blowing), but for starters I would got with the first. no questions asked! Recorded at the peak of British psych in 1967. The only comparison I can think of is a Piper At The Gates, but more accessible.

Very beautiful & psychedelic..."In the Room Of Percussions"....Tangerine Dream

Very addictive like 13th Floor's....then you will have to get Fairfield Parlor--their next band name incarnation with two LPs.

Glad to hear you all like Kaleidoscope.....one of those lost classics...a GREAT UK band! You've got so many great ones that hailed from the British Isles.

You won't be sorry...they grow on you to the point where that is all you'll play for a while.

twilla...glad you like them too!

People get confused about Kaleidoscope's album-Tangerine Dream, because there was a German band with that name- they released some albums in the late 60's onward.

I believe that Fairfield Parlor (Kaleidoscope's new band name...after Kaleidoscope failed to catch on) ...have a compilation CD with their only album and a never released album called White Faced Lady. Quite good too, but Tangerine Dream/Faintly Blowing are MUST-HAVES.
