we can always send an email to the DM offices for any illegal ebay offers..we do all the time with Pearl Jam boots and i think ebay is very clear and clean of PJ DVD and CD bootlegs, anytime something is listed..we send thenlinks to the PJ offices and in 1 day the listing is getting down..

so who has the DM offices email for this shit? just post a link or make a sticky for all of us send the link of any suspicious illegal ebay listing..we can stop the bootlegers

That's up to Jeff to do (not that he really cares). If you want to send him a PM alerting him of the ebay bootlegs, have at it. :)

No, the thing is, someone offered up a never before heard source and someone got greedy (as usual). That source along with the alternate Houston was sort of a 'test'. If everything was cool, no one tried to sell copies, then more unheard sources would have been uploaded. The same thing is happening with Bakersfield. And you wonder why people aren't willing to offer up crisp 1st gen copies of the 8mm footage, or clean copies of FOF & HWY, Bakersfield etc.

still disagree

We can't make to pay the loyal and devoted fans ..talking about thousands for the mistakes of a handful that are looking for a profit..but we can maybe control the abuse but never kill it..sadly we are getting everyday offers from OR movies piratted or other counterffeit products being available everywhere..market fleas, street vendors , internet , etc, my point is that to hold material cause there's a risk of an ebay seller to get a profit is pointless (with all my respects) , with this premise always will exist the RISK, ebay will live forever and maybe stronger, but if we report to ebay in a effective way everytime an ilegal listing showed up, you will see how much this problem will be reduced..again...please check the PJ listings in ebay for DVD and CDs, i think is being controled by the PJ fan base in a really great way.

So if the people wants to hold in their stuff for ebay sellers, there's no way the time will change the position, ebay will stand and those fuckers offering something they got for free will still do it, BUT if we enforce the control of the audio and video ilegal listing i guarantee you a better situation.

This is a 40 years old band and we still have troubles to listen and watch all the footage cause 2 or 4 people don't like it to leak into the masses..that's why i stand still against all the hoarding practices, we need to preserve the legacy of these material for the future generations..if we still block or denie the free distribution of the unheard/unseen footage ...in the meantime all will be lost.

Again my petition for a Ebay enforcement thread, we can check the listing everyday and report the fuckers , but for me is an isolated and old problem that shouldn't affect the FREE distribution of these material.

...then... what's the point to share "new" stuff on a public torrent site when you know for sure that at least one bootlegger will get his chance to download the stuff & release it on bootleg CD ? That's too easy to write things like " If everything was cool, no one tried to sell copies, then more unheard sources would have been uploaded. " ... come on , are we 5 years old kids here ? Bootleggers are greedy , we all know that , you could have uploaded any "old" boots & no bootleggers would have release it , but when a new source turn up , w/ better sound quality & being more complete , then you could have been sure that bootleggers would have tried to get some cash from it ... that's it . I would say there's was like 9 chance out of 10 that the show would have turn up on bootleg CD. Also , being bootlegged is like " free promotion " , & it also means there's (still) interest in the band ...
It's sad , but true .
To buy or not to buy bootlegs CDs is your/our choice .
In conclusion , I would say that it would be safer to make available "new" stuff / upgraded sound source from Doors forum like this one , or by direct download from a 'yousendit' account or something like this , but surely not from a public torrent site ... there would be less chance for bootleggers to get their hands on the stuff , but still , there would be a chance or two , which is enough to not be sure at 100% ...
Again , it's sad , but true .

Great , & thanks advance you " Wha " . There's always a way to release something .
Think about the time you were doing " tree " on Carnival Dogs ... was the complete Seattle 70' show ever bootlegged ? No . It was tree'd over there , but no bootlegger ever came across a copy of it , otherwise we would have seen it released on bootleg CD since then ...

Fantastic Jim's microphone.(Hollywood Bowl).

It's a fraud.
Bruce Botnick used that type of mic (which is fairly common) to record a lot of shows for the Doors and other Elektra artists.
Also, this is a slightly different model, the hump on the back for the connection is slightly larger and closer to the top.
Notice this type of mic was also used at HB on John's bass drum and for Ray's vocals; even if it were the correct model there is NO way to prove this mic was any particular microphone.

This is a joke; anyone speak French who wants to let whoever wins this know that they've been defrauded and/or report him to eBay?

What the fuck?
The French guy is the same guy who won that microphone, AND the papers he has are just poor handwritten copies of the ones from fireheart2021.

Plus, the French auction pictures not only the ones he is offering, but also the ones being offered by fireheart2021!?!?

I don't know..
fireheart2021 seems to be on the up and up as a serious collector.
The handwriting looks pretty legit; if it's fake it's extremely well done.
If I had to guess it was probably from some notepads DS parted out back in the day.

At the very least, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt (for my own opinion).

There was a similar situation a while ago when two different examples of the following poem were offered on eBay. The difference is that they looked amazingly similar to each other. You really had to look closely in order to see the minor differences.

Does indeed show that it's not impossible to fake JM handwriting.

I'd have to politely disagree. The second sample, on graph paper, doesn't look anything like Jim's handwriting to me. (And when did Jim ever write on graph paper? A minor note, but worth mentioning.) For me, the overall writing style looks entirely wrong, but to give a couple specific examples: the "the" really sticks out as being wrong as does the lowercase "m." Neither matches Jim's handwriting.

I'll admit the first sample looks a little more convincing. Maybe they traced some words/letters. But again, it's off. The capital "A" is really wrong. The "dr-" combo is wrong. (Jim's lowercase r's were always much more rounded than square and he rarely looped his d's and always closed them.) And the "-ing" is wrong. (Jim always connected the "ng" whereas in the sample there's a space.)

I'd also add that the second sample doesn't even seem to match the first. A real troubling sign.

The handwriting almost reminds me of the stuff Patricia Kennealy used to have on her website (lizardqueen.com -- I think it's defunct now and she keeps a blog elsewhere). I never believed most of those pages were legit. Love letters and poems from Jim, etc. Some looked real, but other stuff looked real sketchy and it was always stuff that said something like, "To Patricia, my wife for eternity" or whatever.

I don't know the seller so I can't vouch for him, but it's possible he was duped into believing they were real. But without any kind of provenance to prove where they came from, I'd be hard-pressed to shell out for them given all the signs that tell me they're fake.
