My view on it...
Considering this is only New Zealands second world cup and that goal gave us our first ever world cup point ( I believe at any age level, might be wrong though) it is very understandable that he would celebrate. Hell I don't really watch much sport... if any and I was dancing around the room when he scored it! I don't dance either! lol However he knows the rules (no matter how stupid they are, I mean come on, any man can walk down the street topless and no-one cares) and would have known that it would cost him a yellow card and that's not really fair to the rest of the team. But then again, who gives a ****? I doubt we'll make it any further than the next two games anyway. Did it take anything away from the draw (which NZ is taking as a victory, considering the first ever point)? No way. They are heroes, plain and simple. An Australian paper has tried to claim them as their own... bloody Aussies! Always stealing anything Kiwi! A TV presenter summed up the feeling of the nation after the game by saying "We just won the world cup didn't we?" LOL Plus it is the main story over all the media, so no it wasn't soured byhis celebration. He'll probably be knighted!
The Slovakians were offside when they scored their goal, and boy was I pissed... but then so were our guys when we scored so it all evened out!
Up against Italy next so the high won't last long. But the joy of having a point will last a long time!
I hate that other stupid rule of having to be stretchered off if injured! pffffft
One more thing... New Zealand RULZ!

Also you cannot forget the war between Nike and Adidas...
Most lonely place in a soccer field... And sometimes the dirtiest one too:
I remember my youth days when it was hard to have one of ours to go to defend the net. Usually was the smallest or the fatest one
It also reminds me the title of that novel by Peter Handke's The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty. I think Wim Wenders made a film from that novel.
I was a goalkeeper (wasn't the smallest or fattest though!). I have a photo of me lying down in the box looking bored, which meant that we must have been playing a worse team than us...which was hard to find lol. As a keeper you get good at reading the game and the ball and how it is going to move/react, but with this one, it's anyone's guess. Mind you in saying that, it has been the cup with the lowest amount of goals, so perhaps it is the strikers who are struggling?

Well Roughie, yes it's the rules and the guys are professionals but still there's so many celebrating like that. It must mean something. Football is joy, more and more an universal language making people closer. You make easy friends talking about the game.
I remember when I finished college I went for a training period in Sweden. I had an apartment and 10 sweden neighbours. In the day 2 I had a Benfica flag in my door. One of my swedish neighbours imagined I was from Benfica and he put it there... and he was right (he had 50% of probability

). He became my first swedish friend.
FIFA needs to re-think. Free the people to express they're joy. Damn they didn't drop the shorts.
Yes, very few goals. I suppose Nike is already preparing a rumour to blame the damn ball. It's the ball not the strikers
Regarding being a goalkeeper. For a time I was the fattest one, yet this wasn't my motivation to get some weight loss. A beautiful blonde girl did that for me...
Also, when you get old being a goalkeeper gradually becomes something good as it becomes the most desired (resting) place in the field.
ps: Geee, Uruguay sure knows how to ruin the host party. 3-0 against South Africa. I guess the brazilian guys (1950) know somethingabout it...

France lost against Mexico. It's becoming very very difficult for them.
I'm amazed how Domenech is "coaching" a team with so many great players. There's an obvious failure in the motivation of his players.
I heard him giving an interview and he was saying that today's game was not important. If they get a tie 0-0 against Mexico they could solve everything in the third game

Weird coach. He and the portuguese coach are twin souls
I liked Mexico's game. The nÂș 14 Hernandez is a great striker (Man United has already signed him). Congratulations deserlizard!

I was amazed how great Mexico were. As the tv reporter said, when the game was still on, that France got 20 more minutes to agonize

i don't think his emotional state has nothing to do with nothing.he is perfect now.thats all in the past, he is like the Fenix.
Go Messi! my fav! and Tevez!
on edit: omfg Mexico! i remember we agonized the last world cup with them!!!

Many unexpected results. Good predictions of the results just... in the end of the match
The way things are going I suppose many european teams will be (almost) erased from the next stage of the world cup. Are they tired after their hard national leagues?
Italy, the world champion couldn't win New Zealand (congratulations to the
socceroos
).
I'm afraid tomorrow my national team will be in deep troubles too.

I just read and watch some videos about the difficult times of the national team of France. Anelka was excluded apparently after some words with Domenech, the other players refused to train.
Now, France is a great country and I get used to their great national teams since the world cup of '82. Independently of the controversial classification against Ireland, I sincerely hope France will solve this problems and will recover its image of a great team. Go France!

But PLEASE, not like the complete morons in LA, with all the rioting and vandalism after the
annoying lakers won (Celts should be ashamed, they could have beat LA
with a little more effort and Allen's three's dropping in!!) LA was not really
that good this year, but that is the state of the NBA...time for a little Bird and

Oh Dear! You can call me spanish, now

Sorry Roughie. No excuses. Of course, All Whites (nice one in opposition to All Blacks). Great result. The All Whites are doing great! Much better than the socceroos

LOL Kiwis wouldn't really do that... maybe if we win the cup we will! (Dreams are free!)
It is funny when the All Blacks (our rugby union team) lose though as the top news stories and front pages of the papers are all about it and the country seems to go into depression.

New Zealand did amazing! Very impressive.
The Netherlands won both games and is through to the next round but both matches have been pretty boring to watch.

You know, actually a few days ago I heard an economist saying that's it's been studied and it was proved that for the world cup winning nation there's an economic consequence that implies the raising of at least 1% of the gross national product.
Attending to the difficult times, this makes me ask:
is it possible that we can have 24 world champions?
or even better
192 world champions?

7-0 against North Corea, amazing result!
I guess we portuguese are just like that, 8 or 80
Let's see what will happen against Brasil...
It was a nice time because we won and because I saw the game in an auditorium surrounded by 200 portuguese. We're noisy people
We have now big chances to be classified but there's still much to play to prevent any bad situation. If we get into the next phase, who's gonna be? Spain? Switzerland? Chile? All great teams but Spain is top of the list IMO. Chile is playing great soccer too.

You'll need the 2004 spirit!
Also, Argentina is already classified so you'll probably play against their 2nd team.
Good luck to Greece

thanks SF good luck to you too ,
yes we will be playing against the 2nd team but Argentina is Argentina , 1st or 2nd team doesnt count . its one of the best-The best team in the world .
So we will need the spirit and the luck we had in 2004 .
even if i am Greek , i still support that in the 2004 euro we didnt get it by playing good football , we played lucky football , we had luck with our side all the time .

Now, did we already talk about this noisy stuff?
(fuckin) Vuvuzelas
It seems your TV set is a place for a swarm of blowflies, bees, wasps, whatever that makes noise
I can imagine how it would be if Dizzy Gillespie was still around and wanting to play a vuvuzela
Want some therapy? Go to the movies. There's a new one:

Well, Teo for some time I had difficult understanding how we lost it. But we did and twice for Greece. After 6 years, I think you were lucky, for sure, with a conjunction of circumstances but also you were extremely competent. Greece deserved it. You are a bit like the portuguese sometimes 8, sometimes 80. But there's one big difference: you were once european champions

Again good luck!

I'm almost def from my right hear. I would lost the 20% of audition I still have. For sure.
My TV provider develop some filters that reduce largely the noise. But those first games were annoying.
Talking about Spain. Do we have some spanish people here? I never noticed. There's no Doors spanish fans?
Spain lost for Switzerland in the first game. Unexpected for sure. Some spanish people blamed the goalkeepers (Casillas) girlfriend for the defeat

Allegedly the girl, a TV reporter was a fatal distraction for the man.
Can we blame him?
Sara Carbonero

Man, like we used to say in Portugal "que se lixe o futebol" (fuck the football)
Que viva la Espana!

"From what planet you came to leave behind so many english players". Something like that. That's some passion description. One of the best plays ever. And... the hand of God

We have to excuse such a genius.
