Thanks Dan.....for me, MONO is the only way I will listen to The DOORS first album....the MONO listening experience is so much more enjoyable. But I grew up with the MONO version so to hear it in stereo later was actually a shock...and disappointment!! Still have my first press MONO vinyl I bought back in the day!
Hadn't heard HILY in mono....thanks.
Can anyone post THE END...as is was on the first MONO LP?!

Reason I asked because it sounds weird with the vocals, bass, and drums overpowering everything else. Found this a couple of days ago though:

This man was probably another blues genious. Sadly died in a car crash shortly after being recorded by Alan Lomax and probably before getting real big on the Blues scene. According what I read Alan Lomax had plans for him and put him on the same level as Muddy Waters and Lead Belly

I wish more people could get past the misimpression that the DEAD were all about long indulgent jams & nothing more. Some of the best music ever made came from the DEAD...American Beauty is one of the best albums ever recorded.
