"Waiting for the Sun" Japanese rarity

Any of you catch this on ebay? Japanese pressing of "Waiting for the Sun" sold on ebay.......with all the cover perks: vertical side bar, plastic slip cover with info printed on it in white, but so what! The clincher is a beautiful deep solid blue LABEL with the Electra guitar-player logo & text in white, pressed onto the vinyl. Never seen one, but I held it in my hands at the dealer-friend-of-mine who sold it on ebay. That's the kind of thing we get excited about.
Has anyone else seen this before? How rare is it? I also just picked up
a NM copy of "Soft Parade" with the brown label (stereo). Maybe not as rare as some (like the mono version!! my friend picked up ten years ago), but the NM cover is tough to find---even the red label second press cover is usually worn.

Is that a foreign pressed SP? The US pressing's of the SP were never in Mono.

it's just an original Japanese 1968 press of Waiting for the sun , SJET (don't remember the number). rarest w/ original Obi, or promo, white instead of blue label.

john christopher,
why do you care for a Japanese edition of WFTS? I think it's the music important, not the edition.

The Japanese pressed doors records are VERY collectible when found in NM condition. I'm still adding those to my collection.

What to collect IS in the eye of the collector; whatever gets you off.
I always try for the mono version of middle to late sixties LPs. Stop me if you've heard this (probably), but stereo was new then & often NOT as good as mono. We all know that that the mono version of "The End" is THE one to own with the expletives deleted (or edited way down) in the stereo version. Same with Sgt. Pepper's & Surrealistic Pillow. Mono pretty much always has more punch & clarity than the stereo counterpart. "Younger Than Today" Byrds, "After Bathing at Baxters"...I could go on but you get my point. If you care about the speaker separation (I do too), 60's stereo is far superior to today's stereo, hands down. I love knowing who is playing which guitar part by knowing if they are in the right or left speaker, & the psych stuff is mind blowing. There is always something more to enhance the listening enjoyment...
By the way, I miswrote that I actually purchased the Japaese version, but that does't mean I don'r understand why they are so collectable....& this one was dead mint throughout. Also, first pressings are a must because so often the second pressings are remastered/altered or are of a lower quality vinyl.

This one had a Blue side bar ( I think) & a plastic, "frosty" outer sleeve with text printed in white ink. This was dead mint.

Nice.
How about that Mono SP you were talking about earlier. Was that a foreign pressed LP?

This is 95% of my LP collection, some of it realy rare, some of it not at all.
I have music of all kinds on them.
I'll post pics of my Hendrix LPs, these are VERY rare.

I will check with my dealer friend. He implied it was a US pressing.
Speaking of rare pressings, I have a RARE STONES--"HOT ROCKS".
It has alternate versions of "Brown Sugar" & "Wild Horses" (unplugged with a tack piano & no harmonizing on the chorus). The way to I.D. is to look for this, HAND-ETCHED in the trail-off: "Shelley 11-18-70"----it has to be on SIDE FOUR! I like this "Wild Horses" better than the widely released version. It was only pressed for one day until they discovered that the wrong masters were used. Very rare, but OUT there; mostly because very few collectors know it exists. I just found it in the record bin for $10, as did my friend (it was in his collection for 10 years & he didn't know it!). That was 5 or 6 years ago & I haven't seen one since. The last time I saw it up for auction was in Goldmine, going for $1000. Happy collecting.

Excellent. A collector rarely finds what he is looking for at a given moment....it's finding the unexpected......that is what makes it worth it!

You are correct....Waiting for the Sun in MONO, NOT Soft Parade.
That would be a find!

Well, not really. I wish I never had Ray sign it. Takes away from the (true) value. The jacket and vinyl is in NM condition.

Not a "period" autograph, I take it.
