Album-label variations, or just ones you LOVE!!
Maybe you all could post the many Electra/etc. label variations....from US, UK,Germany Japan etc......I'm talking mostly vinyl of course, but CD labels are pretty cool too, so don't let my obsession stop you. Show us your colors!!
>>CHRIS! would you please repost a pic of the Canadian gold label from 60's Electra that you have of the DOORS?
Thanks,
LK
>>>Interesting Labels by other artists that you love would be nice to see too!
I have some good ones. An early 'guitar player' Elektra label and a promo.
I have some other cool labels with other companies such as CBS, Columbia, Reprise etc.......
Love to see your faves, ALL!!! LPs, 45's, boots, CDs etc!!

Nice, Dan.
The most glaring difference is the lack of the familiar "DOORS" logo on the Canadian label. Also the much lighter weight fonts used and the position of the catalog #'s etc.
Is the mono version of WFTS a different mix than stereo? BTW, my favorite label color is the top one...the soft silver/brown pewter color, instead of the yellow gold labels. Never cared for the butterfly label.
I'm having problems getting my promo Elektra label jpeg uploaded--- is there an email addy that I can send to you or Ed to upload here for me? I'm, a dialup dinosaur. PM me if you like.
Thanks,
Scott

I'd say my WFTS mono since I paid $200 for it and it's in NM condition. I bought it off a private collector back in 2001, not on ebay.jamestkirk wrote:Which mono Doors LPs are the best for your money. I think we all love the first best, but which others??
I'll be getting some of my label pics loaded here shortly......

Red in the 60's
Are the Red labels for the 60s vinyl? I see them for the 60s and the 70s have butterfly.

Ya, but the "E" is huge in the 60's and gets smaller and smaller as the decades pass! I don't know about my red German "LA Woman", but I'd say 80's or later, but absolutely NOT 60's.. The red label (smaller "E") came back again after the Butterfly label was axed. Of course this is US discography. I'm fuzzy about "Imports".
My Canadian promo of "Da Capo" is my real treasure, as I've never found anyone that has seen it. Guess I gotta go to Canada to find out. It's obviously Canadian (as Chris instantly pointed out to me a couple years ago),
but the smaller black "E" is the oddity. Note the LARGE white "E" on Dan's Canadian "S.P.". Even Jac Holzman couldn't place it when I asked him about it...but why would he, it's a trivial pursuit as far as he was concerned.
Had to include my Fred Neil label...I love that "guitar player" label. The Doors missed it by a couple years!

The WFTS mono is the tough one to find. Gold label Soft Parade is getting pretty scarce too.King Morrison wrote:Nice scans, i have all of those Doors, but not WFTS mono
Not so rare, but I also love my original red label Morrison Hotel. A great album jacket too!! Jac's all time favorite...which is pretty cool considering all of the Elektra albums to choose from.

Tomi, to answer your question. No I haven't bought any vinyl yet.
That doesn't mean I don't have any. I have a lot. But mostly vinyl that was givin to me. And some of my own stuff from the 80's.
Anyone interested in Michael Jackson's Thriller album or Whitesnake?
I'll make a photo of what I have soon and post it somewhere on here.
Sadly no Doors vinyl yet.Haven't bought vinyl since the CD came out.
Still have to buy new turn tabel too. The one I have and had for a long time works. But it's so old including the needle that I would not dare to play Doors vinyl on it.
Have been a bit occupied with stuff lately so have not had the chance to look at anything yet.
And you'll get back in to the rare stuff again. You'll find a job Tomi. No worries.

Cool, Mon. I think the mods would be fine with posting OTHER bands' labels here too. I named it "your favorites", so go for it.....let's see your favorites.
I'm going to add some common DOORS just because they are my favorites.
Ya the German LA Woman is common to be sure, tomi, but I like that dark cover and the label is cool. Nothing like the US yellow cover with the window, though. That is ART.
Also going to show some of my other gems here.....

Most of these vinyl comes from when my parents died. Got them in storage here. And most is terrible. Besides some original Ennio Morricone albums, The old War of the world dubble vinyl album. That kinda stuff.
And then there is Boney M and Milli Vanilli and other German crap from my mom.
She still cracks me up till this day even when she hasn't been around in years.
I'll post some photo's in the coming time just for the fun of it.
Hope you can get some photo's of your collection up Scott.
Yours is massive.

I will post photo of it for you scott. But I was wrong it is not from the movie. It is from the musical from 1978. From Jeff wayne wich became a huge succes. I forgot about the 1953 movie.jamestkirk wrote:I wouldn't mind seeing the War Of The Worlds label...I love that (ORIGIANAL) movie and the radio show was a real trip!!MistyJm wrote:The only thing is Scott. I heard that the original radio broadcast caused total panic on the streets back then. People thinking it was real.

Ya...Orson Wells seemed to always be in the thick of things from WOTW to Citizen Kane.....always groundbreaking! "The Third Man" is a great movie too.
I don't know the "War of the Worlds" musical....what-- singing aliens??!!
BTW all...for a nice discography of Elektra labels from US, UK etc, go to Torben's Arthur Lee and Love home page....pics of many the variations down the years.

Yes musical. Became a huge hit in the late 70's.
They're coooooming from Marrs.

Got the original vinyl from that one.
Really gonna have to have a look at Torben's site soon.
