Hi Vince,
This show was officially released by the Doors back in November 05 and within the linear notes Robby Krieger states:

"We din't have monitors and the mains were pointed away from us.......I couldn't hear a damn thing. I felt like i was on acid. But I felt we played pretty well."

Do you remember the show and why the band didn't have monitors and mains were pointed away from them?

I actually think they played well considering the situation.

Any recollection would be great Vince,

I am not sure why there were no monitors. We had been using a pair of small acoustic amps as monitors for the system. These were perched on top of the two bass horns. to either side of John

The Mains were pointed away because they were intended to provide coverage for the audience. Th
ere were 4 7' high columns - two for each side.

Had they been pointed inward at all they would have pounded their way into Jim's mike and caused feedback. Though the mikes we used were intended to have a high back and side rejection, there was a limit as to how much you could reject and still be functional.

Of couse with the SPL that these columns put out there was a question of hearing loss as well.
