If you think it is worth it, which I do!!....you need to go to a museum-quality restorer that works with old posters/prints. A good antique dealer, framer or museum director could recommend someone.
Paper is too easy too ruin, as most truck drivers know...
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME. It shouldn't be too much, since you got it for a good price, another $100 maybe (not sure, but $ worth it). Properly framed of course ......acid free.
Good find on a beautiful piece of artwork and historical artifact.

Thanks Scott.
I get all my stuff framed at the same shop, they always do a great job with them.
They suck all the air out of it, which usually helps with framing stuff.I have another one that had those fold lines and you really have to look good to see it.So after some thoughts, I'll pass on the resoration and put some pressure on the guys from the shop.

Congrats on the BG-67. I still need that one.
I would ask the framing people what they would do.

Yes, I think I'll just ask them since they are the proffesional's.
It's a pitty, I got it for $150 dollar. But I have good hopes that it will look great when framed.I'll post a pic when it's done.Maybe I can do a before and after shot.

I assume it wasn't insured. Did the seller offer insurance?

Ed the title of this thread made me laugh.
But reading that your poster is wrinkled like that is sad. I hope it can be fixed well. Would love to see a photo of it hanging on your wall when it's done.

You have a great framer which is half the battle and their expert work will be as good as you can get and probably what any restorer would do. You go the extra mile to get a top framing job for your treasures already!
Don't know that you could do any better. Cheers.

Here;s some pic's of the before poster. It wasn't insured. The seller had it on eBay and it was sold for $135 dollar. But he got an email saying the buyer didn't want it.(Weird) The seller contacted me afterwards. (I asked him if he wanted to ship the item to Holland while the auction wasn't ended yet.)
He said he was planning to list it again on eBay, so I asked if he would consider selling it to me for $150 dollar including shipping, which he agreed. Good for me that he doesn't know much about these kinda posters.
This isn't the first time by the way that a truck messed up a tube for me, guess they still have the same guy working there!
Anyway this is what it looks now:
more when it's framed.I do hope it looks much better then!

It doesn't look too bad, but I'm not sure I'd spend the additional money to have it framed in that condition. On a positive note, it doesn't appear as though the ink was cracked.
Most of the problems I've had with damaged posters have been as a result of inappropriate shipping tubes.

I think posters always look better when framed plus I've got the wall for it.
I see it as art and they are just great to look at.
Did you finally got that Magic Mountain Poster framed? Still need that one...
I could buy one for $699 dollar, but I thougt it was too much.
Here's my Whisky A Go Go photo framed:

Hey Ed, you got a wonderful poster for an amazing price. I love anything from Fillmore...DOORS, LoVE, Airplane, Qhicksilver, Fever Tree, even the Dead!

The best are those with all my favorite bands on one poster!!.
Do we have a "general POSTER art-only" subject?!!
For me the highest form of Rock art. Not just DOORS posters. I'd love to see your LoVE, etc. posters, too, Ed. Dan, Len, Bally and all you poster collectors unite at a NEW poster subject, please! We all love so much of the same 60's music, you must have an amazing collection...I know we like the same stuff Ed & Bally!! I know we have posters all over here, but everything in one fantastic post might be nice. Anyone agree??
I have concentrated on the music so much that I let the posters go in stores & auction; now the prices are so high that I choose vinyl over paper!! Decisions, decisions. I know a guy that got his right off the utility poles they were posted on at the time. Now that's history. More valuable with the staple holes just due to the story behind them!! No restoration needed there!

Nice framed photo, Ed! I have the Magic Mountain poster, but wasn't planning to have it framed. It must be someone else. Besides, I don't have a framer that I can trust to do a good job with an expensive poster.
$699 would be a good price for the Magic Mountain poster in near mint condition.
James, RIM is the best site for Doors posters. For other bands, you should check this site out...
