Wha Happened,
Where did you get the photos? What other bands beside the Doors played at this show? Also, do you have more photos of this show?
Thanks.

I do not belive I was at that festival as a fan. Especially as a fan. The equipment does not look familiar. They may have the ampeg equipment and that was pres 1968. I returned it in the first week fo January 1968 when we were getting the new Acoustic Amps from Steve Marx

Ray is on the wrong side as well or the photo is flipped.

The photo isn't flipped, there are more of them and some circulating footage and they are in those positions.
Occasionally in 1966 and 1967 Ray and Robby would be in the opposite of their standard positions, usually owing to the layout and size of the club they were playing. This time I believe this was due to the positions of the amps set up for certain instruments.
I do know that this concert was one of many that day, it was a rather long lineup, hence the large sampling of amplifiers.
Also notice that Robby is playing an ES-335 or a similar instrument(as far as I know this is the only time he played one back then).

Vince: thanks for the reply. I asked because there is super 8mm footage of the Doors shot from the nose bleed section and it's been said to have been shot by you. Thanks for the clarification.

Terry: The other photos I have of this show are mainly of Jim, b&w. Other band that played this festival include; 5th Demension, Dionne Warwick, Canned Heat, Jim Kweskin Jug Band, Moby Grape, 13th Floor Elevators, Spanky & Our Gang, Roger Collins, Blackburn & Snow, Sparrow, Every Mother's Son, Kaleidoscope, Chocolate Watch Band, Mojo Men, Merry Go Round, Jefferson Airplane, Byrds, PF Sloan, Seeds, Grass Roots, Loading Zone, Tim Buckley, Hugh Masakela, Steve Miller band, Country Joe, Smokey Robinson, Captain Beefheart, Sons of Champlin, Lamp Of Childhood, Mystery Trend, Penny Nichols, New Salvation Army Band, Blues Magoos, Tim Hardlin, Kim Weston.
There is an audience recording of at least Country Joe. The entire event was professionally filmed. A few seconds of this b&w footage of The Doors is circulating. The Doors footage would make an amazing DVD release, but *sigh* management can't even get the Isle Of Wight footage to the masses.

Guys - Let me clear up any runors of my filming

All fiming that I did was in 16mm.

All filming I did was at the Cow Palace in San Francisco 1969

I have some color slides of the guys checking into the rustic hotel in Hawaii 1968 and that is it.

No other filming, photos or anything else.

Wow!! Vince! You filmed parts of the Doors' performance at the Cow Palace in '69!! Like, how much did you film?? Do you remember?

Was it WITH SOUND??? Or just silent footage???

Did you give this footage to the band later on?? Or do you still have it somewhere gathering dust???

Love to find out more!!!!

I have the Cow Palace Footage - It is silent as I have no one to run sound with me. I am not sure why I have the camera with me, but I did not have the Nagra recorder - I got that at.... Isle of Wright, 1970 and then there were only 2 shows left.. One could say that New Orleans was best left unrecorded by any medium. that was THE END.

It may have made us all free but it surely was not friendly.

Just an observation, and one in which I didn't really pay much attention to this detail, but while watching the color footage above, there's a camera man behind the band on the right side moving around. If you have ever seen the German 16mm pro shot B&W footage, it's from behind the band. I wonder if the camera man seen in the color footage is the German one?
