Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Anyone else a fan?
I have been for a while now. Just picked up their latest album MOJO. Great album and well worth it.
Side note, Tom seems to be a Doors fan!

When I was a teenager I listened to them frequently. Mostly their bigger tunes, best albums, no early 80ies stuff at all - Learning to Fly, Mary Jane.. and I have the solo too, Wildflowers - but by the 2000s they got bored I think. Will have to check out Mojo but the previous album was also too mellow for me. Hats off to Petty but with all his praise for Dave Grohl and so on showed me what problems I have with his direction today.

I agree, but check Mojo out, very bluesy. A couple of songs seem tired but there are 15 on the album and most are really good. IMO.

Great artist! "DAMN THE TORPEDOES" AND "HARD PROMISES" are two of my favorite albums.

I always liked them. Nothing complex about them. Just good, simple rock.

Right. That is what Lou Reed said on his New York album....nothing as good as "lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, & drums"....simple, clean and rock hard!
