Hey Vince

When the band where in the studio how did it go? Did songs take many takes? Was there any tracks that where recorded in one go?

Did the band like being in the studio or did they rather playing out in front of a crowd?

When in Studio, with exception of the first two albums which were each completed in Record (OMG ) time, there were rarely less than 5 takes for each piece.

The ones which went on the final Master Tape were primarily chosen by Paul but always with agreement of the guys as a whole.

In some cases, there were many takes - too many I feel. The guys felt so in the case of the Over done album - #4. It was not done without reason, Paul was after some kind of perfection. With all due respect that he deserves, some of the Doors people felt that he over did it a bit.

My wild ride was probably a single take. Perhaps Horse Latitudes. These were kind of special.

The guys enjoyed playing. The did like studio sessions The most certainly enjoyed the excitement of playing before crowds. Both activities had a certian appeal. Different but of equal value.

I know when we had a "Final take" and it was played back, there was a real vibrant excitement, everyone in the controll room sort of "Knew" that this was the one. As I have said before - you really had to be there to understand both the process and the result of any performance whether in studio or on stage.
