I've never seen a signed first lp, signed in the 60's by any Love member.
Did people come up to you for your sig after gigs?

Ed.... We must have signed thousands of albums back in the day. So there has to be at the very least, hundreds of signed copies of Love's first album out there somewhere. There were more than a thousand people at the Neiman Marcus signing in Dallas, Texas in 1966, not to mention all of the other signings. On the Love Revisited tour, a couple of years ago, a fan had two copies he wanted me to authenticate. Arthur had spelled his name "Arthurly" and the fan wanted to know, if he signed his name that way back then. Yes he did! The gentleman had purchased both copies at the local goodwill thrift shop, for one dollar each.

Sounds like they are everywhere...they must be locked up....I know they weren't burned like the Beatles' albums in the 60's so where are they?!!

My oldest is an Arthur Lee signed Da Capo from the early 80's!

Do you have any 60's signed LoVE stuff, Ed? Can we see?

I have about 7 sig's from Arthur, about 5 signed by Johnny(thanks to our mutual friend Nick Koff, Johnny) Maybe 3 from michael, 2 from Snoopy, 2 Gary Rowles, 2 Jay Donnellan.All are personally signed to me but all not older then 9 years or so.

But it is hopefull that there are so manny out there!

Damn! How was your playing after signing so many? How soon was your next gig? (Sorry, I know it's long time ago!)

These were usually promotional events, like the Dallas, Love field tie-in. They gave us the key to the city, and had us signing albums, hour after hour at Neiman Marcus department store. Elektra along with our management, had us doing this kind of thing to generate sales. After a while, I would be so tired of writing my own name, I'd sign Lee Harvey Oswald, or Jack Ruby. Anything to overcome the mind numbing (and finger numbing) boredom.

PS: If you happen across a Love Album signed by John F Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald, or Jack Ruby.... It's authentic, one of us signed it. By the way after enduring this assault on our digits, we were required to go on stage, and try to play music. Not one of our best shows.
