Standells

LOVE was another great band from the 60's and of course VERY Doors related.
I think it would be great to have this special topic about the band who was such a big example for The Doors.

Standells

Silly question but perhaps someone might know. In the Standell's appearance in the 'Riot On Sunset Strip' and 'Munsters' episode, was John Fleck a member of the group then and did he appear in these with them?

He's in "Riot On Sunset Strip", but hadn't yet joined the band when they appeared on The Munsters.

Here he is playing bass in "Riot":

Thanks. Do you know if he played on 'Dirty Water'?

A great band!

I'm thinking Fleck was not in the band for "Dirty Water" 1966...he was playing with Love in '66 (Standells had been around recording since '64)...at some point he got an opportunity to join a professional union, left Love (to be cameraman/photographer?)....and couldn't turn down the money it offered.

He didn't play on "Dirty Water." I believe he only played on their final album, "Try It."
