IS ANYBODY HOME?!! It's a madhouse!! War & greed.

It seems the country and World have lost their collective minds over greed and war for oil....there are still some making noise and music to fit their hearts that just can't make sense of all this madness...

The wars, the economy, the rich just keep getting richer...the madness.....

When we were kids (well a couple here) it was all about the COLD WAR & Nikita Khrushchev & the BOMB....those hide-under-your-desk drills!! Silly people...the powers that be! Even in the 3rd grade I knew THAT wouldn't save me!!!

The world today can be as depressing as any could ever imagine...BP OIL, The quake and meltdown of Japan, Libya, Irag, the TEA PARTY.....when the music's over.

ahhhh....but there is always our music to console us and fine friends in music here and hopefully in your circle of friends at home.

If this is the END (2012[;)]),"beautiful friend, the end", then....
PLAY IT LOUD!![/size=6]

When I was just a boy

And in my father’s hands

I had my Daddy’s word

And something to believe in

And he called it the promised land

Now this old house is gone

The numbers turned to rust

And some of Daddy’s dreams

And most of Mama's teardrops

Are scattered in the dust

Is anybody home?

Is anybody there?

Can you tell me where it’s gonna’ go?

As the sun goes down and I watch my children grow

Ooo, yeah I wonder where it’s gonna’ go?

As the sun goes down and I watch my children grow

We’re flying to the moon

We’re reaching for the stars

With people still at war

And folks still going hungry

Guess we haven’t come so far

And I just shake my head

And try to save a smile

For things that never change

Like memories of loved ones

Or the laughter of a child

Is anybody home?

Is anybody there?

Can you tell me where it’s gonna’ go?

As the sun goes down and I watch my children grow

Is anybody home?

I don’t know

Is anybody there?

Oh is anybody home?

Is anybody there?

Can you tell me where it’s gonna’ go?

As the sun goes down and I watch my children grow

As the sun goes down and I watch my children grow

Freddy and May, 1986

Just look of all those hungry mouths we have to feed
Take a look at all the suffering we breed
So many lonely faces scattered all around
Searching for what they need

Is this the world we created?
What did we do it for?
Is this the world we invaded
Against the law?
So it seems in the end
Is this what we're all living for today?
The world that we created

You know that every day a helpless child is born
Who needs some loving care inside a happy home
Somewhere a wealthy man is sitting on his throne
Waiting for life to go by

Is this the world we created?
We made it on our own
Is this the world we devastated
Right to the bone?
If there's a God in the sky looking down
What can he think of what we've done
To the world that He created?

Feeling sad too.
Is this the world we created?
Is this my country?
Everything seems falling apart.

Jim got it right.

Some obvious ones

Radiohead - Idioteque
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnsfzlxs-KY

Who's in bunker, who's in bunker?
Women and children first
Women and children first
Women and children
I'll laugh until my head comes off
I swallow till I burst
Until I burst
Until I..

Who's in bunker, who's in bunker
I've seen too much
I haven't seen enough
You haven't seen enough
I'll laugh until my head comes off
Women and children first
And children first
And children..

Here I'm allowed, everything all of the time
Here I'm allowed, everything all of the time

Ice age coming, ice age coming
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both sides
Let me hear both..

Ice age coming, ice age coming
Throw me in the fire
Throw me in the fire
Throw me in the..

We're not scaremongering
This is really happening, happening
We're not scaremongering
This is really happening, happening

Mobiles working
Mobiles chirping
Take the money and run
Take the money and run
Take the money..

Here I'm allowed, everything all of the time
Background:
The first of the children

Tom Waits - Earth died screaming
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdF056ZfGM4

Rudy's on the midway
And Jacob's in the hole
The monkey's on the ladder
The devil shovels coal
With crows as big as airplanes
The lion has three heads
And someone will eat the skin that he sheds
And the earth died screaming
The earth died screaming
While I lay dreaming of you

Well hell doesn't want you
And heaven is full
Bring me some water
Put it in this skull
I walk between the raindrops
Wait in Bug House Square
And the army ants
They leave nothin' but the bones
And the earth died screaming
While I lay dreaming of you

There was thunder
There was lightning
Then the stars went out
And the moon fell from the sky
It rained mackerel
It rained trout
And the great day of wrath has come
And here's mud in your big red eye
The poker's in the fire
And the locusts take the sky
And the earth died screaming
While I lay dreaming of you

Barry McGuire - Eve of Destruction
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntLsElbW9Xo

and a great alternative video:

Where Have all the Flowers Gone (video): Eve of Destruction (sound)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QslV5asj ... re=related

The eastern world, it is exploding
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill, but not for votin'
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'

But you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve
of destruction.

Don't you understand what I'm tryin' to say
Can't you feel the fears I'm feelin' today?
If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away
There'll be no one to save, with the world in a grave
[Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy]

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve
of destruction.

Yeah, my blood's so mad feels like coagulatin'
I'm sitting here just contemplatin'
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don't pass legislation
And marches alone can't bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin'
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin'

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve
of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for 4 days in space
But when you return, it's the same old place
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace
And… tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend
You don't believe
We're on the eve
Of destruction
Mm, no no, you don't believe
We're on the eve
of destruction.

The title belies the controversial theme ...this was pretty radical back in 1965...especially for regular top 40 radio!

Back in the day we didn't take going to Canada lightly to avoid the draft....it broke many hearts and minds but going to Nam was not an option. Fortunately my lottery number was very high and there was no chance i would be called up.... I have talked to many Vets and shaken their hands for what they did. I told one at the Wall that I respected him...he was a better man than I for going...he said, "I wish I hadn't gone...you were right..." Still he toured with the Vietnam Wall and and helped loved ones find their son or daughter or husband or friend.....

"FOUR DAYS GONE" expressed the heartache and the painful decision it was to avoid the draft...and lose your Country.

Four Days Gone...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA7HCHZIaBA

I met two kind people on the road
I was parched and dry from the cold
I've been traveling four days and nights, sir
And I do want to thank you for the ride
And the soup your wife made tasted fine
If it's all the same, I'll be on my way at the next turn
'cause I'm four days gone into running

And my baby is waiting, I hope, sir
After fifteen trucks and an old Ford
And the government madness... I ran away
And I to say, I can't tell you my name
'cause I'm four days gone into running

I can't even go home
Take my baby and run
I got reason to live
I got things I can give

And I'm four days gone into running
