AMY WINEHOUSE 1983 - 2011
Another sad story and a failed attempt to shorten the circle of the twentysevens. Rest in Peace Amy.
And the way she sang she should be remembered about..

Jesus Christ, it is so terrible. I thought it was a joke when I first heard earlier this afternoon. Rest in peace, Amy.

I'm saddened but not surprised. She clearly had serious drug problems. Unfortunately 27 seems to be the magic number. RIP

I have to say it is sad, any loss of life is and yeah... another one joins the stupid 27 club.
I also must admit I have never heard one song of hers. Off to youtube. (Known about her for many years but never listened.)

I was willing to attend this year's Sziget fest in Hungary where she would have been one of the headliners but for obvious reasons it got pulled some weeks ago. Now we are left with the recordings..

Please refrain from describing it as the "stupid 27 club." Jimi Hendrix was not stupid and neither was Janis and neither was Jim. Each died under different circumstances. Yes, they all happen to be 27 but none of them were looking to die in the manner in which they died and at the age of 27.

I think you misunderstood my use of stupid. I certainly wouldn't call any of the people in the 27 club as stupid. I was showing my contempt for the club which has too many members that are greats and gone forever. Sorry if I caused offence.

At the end of the day, I didn't really find her that intriguing. She had talent, but nothing that really floored me.
At the end of the day, it's a terrible thing to see anyone die in such a way - as you know that there are deeper problems. But, I just can't muster *THAT* much emotion. People are dying similarly every day and she was on a rocket ship to oblivion ... if she didn't have one big hit no one would care ... and that's the real tragedy.

Thanks for clarifying.

She was one my favorite female performers of the past few years (along with Beth Gibbons, Nina Persson and Madeleine Peyroux).
I recommend listening to her ''Live at Paradiso, Amsterdam'' bootleg.
