For Vince. RE: Rehearsals

We're lucky to have former Doors road manager Vince Treanor here to answer fan questions and share some of his memories. Ask Vince about anything related to the equipment The Doors used, stage set-ups, specific concerts, the band after Jim's death, and working on the Oliver Stone movie.

For Vince. RE: Rehearsals

Post by mystery_train67 »

Hi Vince, Thank you for your contributions to the forum...

Were you present at many Doors rehearsals?

Could you shed any light on what a typical rehearsal was like for the band once they were 'established'? Did they run through their old songs to 'bone up' on them or would they frequently be workshopping new songs?

One of our members Chris, aka Jim4371 pointed out a reel to reel two track recorder seen in some photos from the LA Woman period, possibly it is also seen in the Crawlin' King Snake video shot by the Australian Camera crew.

Did you ever set up a recorder for the guys in the room so they could record a song in rehearsal?

I know in all the bands I've been in, we'd use a tape recorder and a couple of mics to roughly record a song in rehearsal so we don't forget it, or can listen from an 'outsiders' perspective for a couple mins.... why wouldn't a band like the Doors do the same?
