In the mood for a little holiday cheer? How about the London Fog setlist!
Rock Me
Baby, Please Don't Go
You Make Me Real
Feel It
Hoochie Coochie Man
Strange Days
Lucille
Dave
------------------
That would be very cool to listen to it, very unusual setlist.
Yes unusual and would look forward to YMMR and SD and oddly enough Lucielle.

Exciting!
Two original Doors songs (or three? In fact I too ask what could be ""Feel it"?) and 4 (5?) covers.
I'm really curious about how different SD and YMMR will sound. Jeff said SD was very similar (which sounds odd... without the studio effects).
Aaah, that second reel!

If we can take this granted than I feel a bit unsatisfied seeing the list. No early Break On Through or else... but at the same time this seems to be some plethora of really unheard material so got to be something of a bigger puzzle by which we can't lose anyway. They have to release it first, tho.

I do. After all it was one of the songs Ray performed the first time Jim was in a stage with him (Turkey Joint West?). And Ray also sang this one several times in the post-Morrison period.hardrockcafe wrote:Does anyone suspect Hootchie Cootchie Man might have Ray on lead vocals? I hope not.
I wonder if Feel it is also Ray on vocals. I searched if there's a song "Feel it" but found nothing relevant.
I'm very curious about this setlist.

Good question. In those days Jim was introducing much poetry in the songs (some months after at Matrix he was still including pieces of his poetry generating fascinating versions for instance of The End, When the music's over).
On the other side, don't worry we will have improvs anyway: Ray was always improvising when he sang...

Here's the Sam Cooke song "Feel It" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tE1z9t7ep4
Hard to picture The Doors covering this, but I guess it's a remote possibility.
Or maybe it's an original or some sort of jam?

Just asked Dave if he can also post the names of the 2 mystery jams on the March 7, 1967 Matrix tape reel. They've only had the master tapes 3 years now; you'd think they could share what those 2 songs are.

Ever since I first heard of this recording I couldn't wait to hear this earliest version of Strange Days. That alone will make it worthwhile for me.

I think we can at least expect You Make Me Real to have different guitar work in 1966. The 1969 Aquarius version Kreiger appears unabashedly to lift parts of the riff/motive from Booker T and MG's 1968 song "Time is Tight." Listen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUGsZgkjrco

The response on LL
Hey guys. Great comments and questions. Glad you're all as excited as I am about this recording. Here are a few more tidbits based on your above questions.
A little more info on "Feel It": It is a song, not an improvisation. In fact, the entire setlist I posted are complete songs. As far as I can tell, "Feel It" is a Doors original. A high energy song with kind of a "Break On Through" and "Gloria" vibe at the same time. Great stuff!
Someone also asked who was singing. Jim sings lead on all songs with the exception of Hoochie Coochie Man where Ray takes on lead vocals. Ray also adds in some nice, subtle harmonies on Strange Days.
There you go! Although I know you guys have 100 more questions to ask with regards to the songs, this is about as much detail as we can get into for now. More info will come later from either Jeff or myself, and we'll post it here.
Happy holidays.
Dave
Well done to whoever picked Ray singing Hoochie Coochie man.
Feel it is an original should be interesting. Don't know what to expect. Would be nice if it was psychadelic but who knows? I'm always up for hearing a Doors original!

True but he might have changed the lyrics to some of the covers or omitted some. I won't be disappointed if there aren't any improvs, as this is a holy grail recording... well half of it anyway. Damn them for not finding the other reel!hardrockcafe wrote:Jeff said the tape is about 30 minutes. That's an average of about 4 minutes give or take per song. I guess there's a little bit of room to stretch out and throw in poetry. I wonder if Screamin Ray makes an appearance.Roughie wrote:I wonder how much if any of the tracks have Morrison improvs?

Feel It seems to be an interesting track,
btw the l.a.woman release (vinyl) got another delay until March 16, so can we expect the London Fog show on 2012?

Amazing!
After absorbing the impact of knowing this holy grail exists, we realize now we can expect:
Rock Me (cover to compare with many others like the early version from Matrix and later version from L.A. Woman sessions - not to mention the several ones from live shows all through their carreer)
Baby, Please Don't Go entire song (?) - this song only appeared as a snippet in some longer songs
You Make Me Real early evolution of a song released in MH
Feel It original song! (could they be wrong?) I wonder why it was abandoned
Hoochie Coochie Man early version of Screamin' Ray Daniels - probably not the highlight of the show...
Strange Days long-awaited live version of one of the best Doors songs ever, here without any studio effects
Lucille first time we will listen a cover of this song by The Doors
Woow!
Question now is are/how they are going to screw up this release?
