Seems John was not really up to make this promo. They way he handles the stuff suggest he feels similarly about this release as we do. Bittersweet? Certainly!miltonjumbee wrote:Watch John Densmore unbox all of the contents of the LONDON FOG :

Yes, obviously he cares more about the music than the package.I do understand him, but the way he handles the package is a bit disrespectful.I mean , we, the fans, still have to pay a lot of money for this cheap looking stuff

Just listened to the sample clips on Amazon.
Legitimately exciting to hear. It sounds like it's an astoundingly cool recording.

Thanks for the samples, this sounds amazing.
Jim certainly got his signature voice on this, what a difference between this and the demo from 1965.
John is also on fire on this one.
And Ray, as always, precise and rhytmic.
Wow what a show, can't wait to hear it all.

Re: London Fog Recording (Part 2)
My copy is being delivered tomorrow. I really can't wait to hear it!
So this recording was not made during their audition at the London Fog (when they invited all their friends from UCLA) but in a different evening some weeks after that, right?

I saw this too. It's nice to see they are still looking for that second reel, but I think that it would be a reason to re-release the LF cd. Although it would be really exciting to see whats potentially on it.Mystery Train wrote:Some hints what might come:

yeah I read this one, I got the impression or assumed this was an older quote from Robbie from back when they were looking for it ie they are no longer looking for it. That said I suspect they might have found it and kept it to release it as a 2 cd

I get mine in the post tomorrow. No record store in my town anymore. Happy days. I wonder what we will get next year... Good old copyright extension.

If they gonna pull that, it's going to equal with their Matrix move. But if that's the price to hear that one as well, ...anytimecowboy wrote:PoorOtis D&G wrote:I saw this too. I still want it despite the feeling it's a bit over garnished for a short audio experience I'll probably wait until after xmas & a second hand copy pops up.

Re: London Fog Recording (Part 2)
A short but great review from today's Guardian.
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/ ... bum-review
The Doors: London Fog 1966 review – embryonic sound of stars in the making
Many of the countless Doors live albums are far from essential, but this one feels genuinely important. The recently discovered 1966 audience recording from a gig at the Los Angeles club London Fog captures the band in their lesser-known embryonic period. Their sound is already in place and Jim Morrison is on the verge of becoming the Lizard King, using the near-empty Sunset Strip venue to develop the necessary stagecraft to get his mojo rising. The various covers range from smouldering, sensual blues (BB King’s Rock Me) to raw, roughhouse rockers (Big Joe Williams’ Baby Please Don’t Go). The two originals – a tightly wound, thrillingly focused You Make Me Real and a particularly ominous, spooked and spooky Strange Days – may be respectively two and four years away from their studio versions, but already sound eerily fully formed. Throughout, disinterested audience chatter and the chink of glasses belies the fact that within months, the London Fog’s unknown house band would be among the hottest groups in the world.
