I just bought a 45 of Ships With Sails/In the Eye of the Sun. It isn't terribly exciting but it is slightly interesting as it is an ex radio station copy and it comes with a sheet of the dates it was played. It has the radio station's sticker on it as well. It is my second one like this. The other one I have is LMF/CS.
Starting pre production on a sketch show. More soon.

"For Radio Play" and PROMOS are always exciting and it makes them RARE and special! Great find, roughie!

Yeah. There must be others out there too (whether they have the "play cards" with them or not. I hope to collect them all (from this radio station/company anyway)

Play cards are very rare I'm guessing.

I have several white label promo LPs by artists such as Flying Burrito Brothers' "Gilded Palace Of Sin" with a radio play sticker and boxes checked off by the radio station as to which ones should be played on-air. Some are scratched out..."don't play" it would seem!

I am guessing scratched out means don't play.

This is just a normal single (NZ pressing) with a radio station sticker on it. It has a big sticker on side a that says SIDE A... in other words, play this side.

The play card shows Ships with Sails was played 4 times between 1972 and 1976. In the Eye of the Sun wasn't played at all.

What a funky cool label (and a bit ugly but that's what makes it cool). A holdover label from the early 60's. I have the Elektra Guitar Player label on my Fred Neil album...Bleeker & MacDougal.

One of my all time favorite Elektra album covers. This is from google images..mine is actually in much better shape.

Very Cool, Dan. Nice to see items that are especially rare (to our eyes) like the "triangle" 45.

Two record case's full of Doors 45's. The case on the left is Doors 45's from around the world including US pressings. Mostly first pressings in NM or better condition. The letters represent the country of origin. The case to the right is all Doors 45 promo's. I will post select ones in the near future.

Hey, glad you like it. Your picture shows you are very talented.

My wife is a graphic designer and artist, but I designed this logo and she made it. I will email you a copy of our business cards as I think you will enjoy them too.

Oh and something, something about Doors 45's to pretend we are still on topic.

2 x 7" box set with 7 inserts, numbered, 500 only

3 July 1992 saw the 21st anniversary of the death of Jim Morrison, lead singer with the legendary rock group, The Doors

To celebrate that, Final Vinyl, a Scottish based venture released a very limited interview box set. It consisted of 2 seven-inch singles playing at 33 1/3 r.p.m. and totalling more than 40 minutes as well as a variety of memorabilia. The run was limited to 500 numbered copies. It has not and will not be re-issued.

The interviews came from more than 5 hours of taped conversations with the surving members of the group. Some parts have been aired on radio and also used as background for the Sky News documentary on the Oliver Stone film, "The Doors".

Much of what is discussed contradicts the accepted myth surrounding The Doors and shows that even group members have, over the years, become confused by their own press releases. The interviews are not meant to cause controversy but rather be of interest to rock fans wanting a better insight into one of the 'sixties most exciting groups.

The Singles

1/A: Ray and Robbie talk about their roots and influences, hanging out with Jim (in 1963!!),Rick and The Ravens, conning club owners into getting gigs and the formation of The Doors.

1/B: Ray recounts the hilarious details of how Jim couldn't make the Amsterdam gig in 1968 (dope, paramedics and rubber sheets!!).He then explains the story of Jim and the soul of the dead Indian. After that, he goes on to An American Prayer.

2/A: Ray again, on bringing The Doors "Full Circle" and getting back together to work on Jim's poetry. Details of the drunken poetry sessions (Jim's birthday present to himself) and the famous 'phone call to Michael McLure.

2/B: Back to the start of The Doors with the previously unheard story of signing to CBS and being put on the "drop list". Ray the picks some of his favourite Doors tracks as a personal choice and covers "Celebration Of The Lizard".

The Memorabilia

Each box carries a selection of cuttings reproduced actual size and in the style of real cuts covering Jim's arrest and death.

All boxes include a reproduction of the 1967 interview with the legendary "Mojo Navigator" magazine and an advert for the "Middle Earth" gig.

The tapes were recorded on full I.B.A. spec equipment for radio broadcast but these 40 minutes are unheard until now. They were recorded in 1983 (at Anouska Hempel's Blake's Hotel) during The Doors visit to London to promote "Alive She Cried". Mastering and cutting were done at the world famous Abbey Road Studios. It should, however, be remembered that these were informal discussions with the band and include some background noises.
