so my source was right!
Love the artwork! so is this an incomplete set release right? do you think the 4500 run will make it difficult to find it? I'm tremendously nervous to lose this record.

Indeed lovely artwork I really like the fact they used the original ad theme.

I dont really think you would have any difficulty finding a copy.. Imagine the fog has sold about 3-4k .. I know not the same price point but it gives you an idea

It is really a fuckin disgrace these guys at Elektra are doing. Even the artwork in my view is just a cheap imitation of what could have been made - similarly to the content and the way they're releasing it. But imagine, if Analogue Productions would have been asked to make/design their own version of the Matrix Box set, incl the entire uncut recordings and their top-notch standard packaging etc... instead, with this current way they'll not even manage to break even with such inferior standard, cheap-looking and heavily butchered releases and then they will think it is all about market and probably there isn't enough fans left..

It would appear they will squeeze the Matrix recordings for every drop. With an incomplete live Matrix disc accompanying the 50th anniversary release of the debut album it stands to reason the same will be done for the second album; so the Doors camp may be poised to have 3 incomplete Matrix releases in their catalog (including the 2008 release ) . I'm frustrated but not the least bit surprised. All I'm interested in this point is a confirmation or denial if there really were two as yet unreleased instrumentals on one of the tapes. My money is on the instrumental of Summertime having been performed both on the 7th and the 10th.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of the two jams is inspired by Coltrane's interpretation of Afro Blue.

Nor would I. The more Coltrane I hear, the more I hear him in The Doors. Also Ray Charles, Manzarek took a lot from Charles early blues stuff.

The whole Matrix fiasco is an epic cluster. Nearly 10 years after they put out the 2CD set they still can't get it right. I won't be buying any 1st or 2nd lp box sets to get the piecemeal Matrix material.

Merely agree. It's a fuckin disgrace to the fans and to their legacy.

Why the hell John or Robby doesn't do a thing about this? John was pretty upset about the London Fog packaging as well... do they have any say in this at all?!

Nice catch!

In my view it has a great (but not excellent) front cover, but I just hate the typography of the back. I know it was a contemporary font at the time but it suits a Santana release much more than for any Doors shows. Oh, and it ain't works with the front. Just another thing released with their typical half-care...

Can you show us some photos of your store?

For sure I would love to see how a Doors fanatic's record store looks like! =)

Indeed. Great place that reminds me of my store that I frequented for decades but which unfortunately called its quits years ago.
Love all the first row LPs too.

Hello, can anyone tell me how this new matrix lp sounds compared to the 50th cd release?I was not impressed with the sound quality on the cd.Little to no difference from my bootlegs and 2008 release.Just hoping the sound quality is better so I can justify the purchase of this vinyl release. Thank You
