Picked up a few items recently, one cool and the others are just weird.

First, I bought a VHS tape which comes directly from Elektra Entertainment. It has "The Ghost Song" on it. On the box it reads:

"Jim Morrison (W/Music By The Doors)
"The Ghost Song"
LP - An American Prayer
Elektra/EEG
Elektra Entertainment

It's a plain white box and on the side has the addresses for Elektra in New York and Beverly Hills. Before the video, which runs 3:59, is a slate with info about the video. I'm not sure if this was the VHS Master or was given out by Elektra at the time. I could scan a pic of it when I get back on Tuesday if anyone wants to see what the tape looks like.

Also, I got, don't laugh, 5 Doors toys made in Argentina. 4 of them are spinning tops, one of each band member, and the 5th is a little mini- pinball machine. I thought it was bad enough years ago when I got the 3 sets of Doors Russian Wooden Nesting Dolls and the Doors comic books but now it's official:

I have a problem.

You mean I made it to the insane club ?? Finally !! Yes !! =)

On a serious note, I do think the VHS Tape may be a Master. On a Master a slate quite often precedes the video. This was definitely NOT a commercial release. Anyway, this is the info I have on it which was provided by the seller. I paid 20 bucks for it:

This is a rare official music video direct from the record company of Elektra/EEG VHS format. Comes complete with original sleeve/case that the master came with.

With regard to what a slate is this info was provided:

A “slate” is usually a graphic that gives all the information about the production of a particular music video. A slate is shown prior to the music video. It will include information like band name, song title, duration of the music video, the name of the Director and editor in addition to the video production facility the music video was edited in and finally a countdown starting at 30 seconds counting down until the video begins.

Basically, the seller was claiming that this is an official record company VHS Music Master. So far I see no reason to dispute it. Anyway I thought it was a steal for the price and is pretty cool. This can't be a common item. :D

And , yes, will post pics of the toys when I get back from the chess tournament. :D

Gonna go see Hangover 2 now. Stay real, guys.

As promised here are my little Doors toys from Argentina. Sorry they're not straight but I foolishly put Ray and John next to each other and they started fighting. I'll try to post pics of my Russian Wooden Doors Nesting Dolls if I can find them. I have 3 sets and they're in one of my many boxes.

Yes, that's the one, and I am always happy! :)

Actually I don't know if it is just the photo but my disc looks different. It is black with the drawing of the face in silver, so it is a different version again! Has all the same info etc though.

Pretty sure I've got this too, but whoever had it before me put contact on the sleeve to 'protect' it.

Not sure if it's rare or not but I just got a copy of the first album on LP and it's a review copy that was given to a journalist in late 1966 before the album actually came out. I thought it was a cool item. It has "Review Copy" stamped on the LP. Does anyone have one of these for any of the 6 studio albums ?

Last Arrival:

Live in New York Box Set - EU Print
Live in New York Promo - UK
Greatest Hits - Russia
Strange Days - The Sunday Times UK Promo
The Very Best of The Doors Promo - UK
A tribute to the doors 2001 - presented by Out of Phase
Darken My Fire - Japan

The quality of the Europe Union Warner Release is quite low than the US release, incredible; for that quality the price have to be lower

It just has "Review Copy" stamped on the record. I had never seen one so for 30 bucks I thought I might as well get it.
