Many albums are very different in style or feel from side one to side two...by design.
Or....some just worked out that way, in any event, giving us two sides to our musical
listening journey.
--"two sides to every story".

Here are some that stand out for me...any stand out for you all?

Da Capo
is an obvious album choice for us here.
Has there ever been an LP with side two being so different in
sound and (for some) quality?

Two Sides To Every Story
of course, by Gene Clark, has a decidedly different
sound from side one to side two.
A brilliant excursion.

side one
Home Run King...more of a Dillard and Clark side feel

side two
Past Addresses...so great, so sublime

One of my all time favorite album covers too.

Nel Young's American Stars 'n Bars
side one has a country punk rock feel, backed by Emmylou,
lovely Linda & Nicolette. It is especially different from
the more experimental side two, with Neil's signature
classic long track-"Like A Hurricane".

My fave, "Will To Love", was recorded by Neil on a small recorder
at his ranch, while sitting in front of his fireplace late
one night. He meant to re-record it but couldn't find the
right "groove" that would improve it in his mind, so he
mastered it with sound effects that surrounded him on such
a night... sounds of crickets etc.
A masterpiece of impromptu inspiration.

Blue Cheer's New!Improved!
has one of my least listened to album sides-SIDE ONE!...
and one of my all time favorite album sides-SIDE TWO!!
Randy Holden of Sons Of Adam lights up side two with HIS songs
and creates one of the best sides in rock history.

side one
When It All Gets Old...not bad (just seems a bit not
thought out and disjointed--just misses on what Blue Cheers
had recorded on previous albums), AND really different from
side two. I just don't have the patience for side one
and always jump to side two with the man, RANDY.

side two
Peace Of Mind...pure artistic genius

Fruit & Icebergs/Honey Butter Lover...perfection

...................

Some pretty dramatic stylistic differences with these
albums, intentional or not.

Can you share any more that come to mind?

Cheers!
