sure, but since all of my memorabilia is in storage I don't know exactly when I will be able to scan it. I also forgot to mention I have a signed painting that RK gave me when I was at his house.

To other recipients of original albums that are signed

It is likely that these are a result on efforts by Leon Bernard the guy who was the doors"Publicist" in collaboration with 13 year old Danny Sugarman, during long hours in the Doors office signing albums to be handed out for all sorts of reasons. Usually this is done by rubber stamp but you likely have them signed with magic market, slimline or ball point.

To get the genuine article you had to get the boys, right there at a show, and see it done live and in person. Otherwise it is a promo.

Great! :D

I happen to admire Robby's artwork!
I find that his expressionistic briliance shows a lot in his paintings,
at least from the samples I've seen
at the official website and in another site, I can't recall now

It's a shame really, that noone seems to have botherd about providing us
a more consistent view of Robby's art.
I can't help but think of other pop musicians' artwork that has been in the spotlight

"wha happened", I'd be really thankful if you posted a picture of the painting you have
I'm really interested to see other examples of Robby's art

- Thanks in advance!

Painting

Amazing whay the Boys have gotten into. John is in stage plays, Robbie is painting and Ray is recording mythology for posteriors.

It would be nice to see Roby's Painting. How nice of him to give that to you. Signed, by the way, is standard practice so that is no biggies except that it authenticates the work.

Impressionistic - interesting.

I actually find that his work draws back to the work of the great
Abstract Expressionists of the 1920-50 era
I'll take the liberty to post a couple of Robby's paintings I'm fond of,
to show what I'm talking about

It's very refreshing to read your stories and insights. 8)
I've been checking the forum frequently since the link was posted at the Lounge,

Mystery of the Show

The Doors didn't know what would happen either. There were no fixed set lists. Whatever came to mind at the timne was good enough. Jim was never predictable. No telling whether he would carry on any dialogue with the audience, make some telling comments, modify some existing song or make a new one.

There was one thing that was certain. When the show was over, you knew you have been somewhere and come back safely but the actual visit to that spalce and place was a blur of incredible experience.

When I hear the music even now, visons return and for those moments, it all comes alive again.

Dude, someone scribbled all over your setlist. :D

But, seriously, Max Weinberg? Did he jam with them that night or something? I'm really not up on my D21.

Speaking of them (steering away from the thread topic for just a second), does anyone know the status of their "upcoming" studio album? I remember Ray pimping it at shows with lines like, "If not this year, then next year for sure." Which was probably 3 years ago. Any news?

ha, Max took his daughter to see them that night and he was invited out to do LMF. Oh yea, the studio album. Wasn't that album do out in 04 or 05 for sure? There was a little d21c wannabe mouth piece that would post on the LL every week about the album coming out in a few months. But then again, Dave also kept saying it'll be out really soon. I bet they're saving it for 07 along with the downloads and Dave's book. woohoo..2007 best year ever!

Nothing major, but I just got a copy of the contract Jim signed to appear on American Bandstand. It even has his SS# on it. Nothing rare, but a cool item to add to my collection.

I'll try to. I probably should block out the SS #, though.

are the mono mixes unique or are they fold-downs of the stereo masters?

They are unique.

Have any mono transfers been treed/torrented/traded? I remember MZ wanted to do something like that for the first three albums, but he may have had some trouble locating a mono copy of 'Waiting For The Sun.' I can't remember if I ever got a CD copy of the first album in mono. Would anyone be interested in creating a torrent?

That's not such a bad idea, Porsche. I'll work with Jim43 and hopefully together, we can make this happen.

I have a copy of the first album, MONO,on CD.It's taken from a very good lp copy.Sound is soooo different in my opinion.
I have no idea how to put it online.Maybe I can work out something with TheDoorsMusic and he can put it online?I don't have much knowledge about it.

But first I have to find the CD among my stash of other cd's..... :)
