Photo Of John In Newspaper Day After Jim Went To Hospital ?

One particular photo I've tried to track down for years is the one of John that was on page one of a newspaper the day after the concert where they had to perform without Jim. Has that ever surfaced ? Does anyone know which newspaper it appeared in ? I'd love to see that one.

I believe it was in "De Volkskrant", or "Het Parool" I never saw that photo or article, but I'm always on the lookout for it.

Ed did you find out in wich newspaper it was? I checked both the Parool en de Volkskrant. But you can only acces the archives of the last two years. For full archive acces you have to create an account. So if someone can tell me wich one it was I can try to work something out to get the photo and articles from 1968.

I read that in 1968 Het Parool and De Volkskrant went working together. However, it was De Parool who was the leading newspaper.
My guess is that it was Het Parool. Also because this was a bigger newspaper, but I'm not sure.
Hope you can find it out somehow.

Thank you Ed. I emailed Het Parool documentation department and yes it is possible to order newspaper articles, even from 1968 so it seems. Up to three pieces. Does anyone know if besides the article/photo of John visiting Jim in the hospital, more articles about the Doors were published in Het Parool? I ask this because this goes without any previews. It's ordering at subject information. The guy who ansewered my email was not very helpful

They don't have it

They will be sending an article about the concert.
So that's something to look forward too.
Here is the email I got back, offcourse it is in Dutch.
Geachte mevrouw Van S.....,
wij kunnen alleen een recensie van het concert traceren, wilt u dit ontvangen?
Met vriendelijke groet,

Yes I am going to try de Volkskrant tomorrow and I will also try to search at the Amsterdam geschiedenis fotobank. i think it will take up to 5 days before the Parool article will arrive or they will email it. I don't know yet what they will do. I problaby have to sign something I think.
And maybe there is a photo to go with the article, I have no idea. It is exiting

Sadly Het Parool does not have the photo of John Densmore visiting Jim in het Wilhelmina gasthuis. I asked specific for that and they do not have it.
They will be sending an article about the Doors concert in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. I have no idea if there is a photo to go with it. There is no preview to see. So it will be a surprise for me too.
Tomorrow I will be trying if I can order old newspaper articles from the Volkskrant and see if they have the one from John. If they do not I hope to find at least some more articles about the concert. But let's just see if it is possible to acces the archive. But I am very exited. If I know more I will post it here

"Spicy" MistyJm is hunting this photo! Hope you will have success.
John said in is autobiography that, despite Jim being at the hospital, he was with an inflated ego at these Amsterdam shows.
He was at the center of the stage receiving full attention from the audience.
I enjoy his (audio)book but not his singing...

Has anyone checked the libraries or perhaps (likely) better yet the university libraries for microfilm copies of the papers?
Edit: I found this
here
"In het Informatiecentrum van de UB zijn Trouw, de Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad en Het Parool op microfiche aanwezig vanaf ca. 1982. Van NRC Handelsblad zijn er ook microfilms van de periode 1844-1981. Een index ontbreekt echter. U kunt ter plekke printjes maken."
I assume this means that they only have them on microfilm back to 1982, but what is this other publication, NRC Handelsblad? Being a daily publication that might be a good bet, if not for a photo at least for an article.
Also, does anyone have a copy of
this, or want to buy it and find out what's in it?

Well, it says that they got in on microfil from 1982.
NRC Handelsblad is a daily newspaper, so that could be a good guess.
The Hitweek on E-Bay says: Jim Morrison collapses.
Sounds interesting enough. Hitweek's name is now Aloha. I do believe that magazine still excits.

I contacted the seller on eBay if he perhaps would send me a scan of the article.
NRC Handelsblad, that could be the one also.

hi everybody. I'm the highest bidder on this mag yet, but as there 's another one for sale yet, I think it would be stupid to overbid each others, & spend a bunch of money. guys , It's my point of view.No problems for me to scan it & post it here , or send it to someone by e-mail.
take care.

I contacted de Volkskrant today. She couldn't find it, as the archive was not solid back then like it is today. So I asked her to look at the dates of 16, 17 september 1968. She will. There must be something
I am waiting for her answer.

I got one article from De Volkskrant in my email. Dated 16 september 1968.
It praises the performance of Jefferson Airplane. The Doors don't come out to well in this article. Saying with Jim Morrison being brought to the hospital the attention was focused on the music capility of the other three Doors members and that was not recieved very well. Ray managed to save a lot by making announcements/statements. They only performed songs from the first album because Ray knew the lyrics to that.
Ed or J.B. would you mind checking for translation misstakes I problaly made and correct it or maybe try to get more information in English out the article?
I would appreciate it big time
Here is the file. No photo

Well your translation about sums it up.
It kinda surprises me because it was said that the next day when The Doors read the newspaper that they got good reviews and that Jim was kinda pissed about that and realised that they could do without him.

I always thought the reviews were good too. Especially considering the leadsinger just got sick and rushed to the hospital. But this is just one review.
I now really want to know what the other newspapers had to say
