Vince, do you recognise this mic?

We're lucky to have former Doors road manager Vince Treanor here to answer fan questions and share some of his memories. Ask Vince about anything related to the equipment The Doors used, stage set-ups, specific concerts, the band after Jim's death, and working on the Oliver Stone movie.

Is this a SHURE microphone?
As far as I know Jim used a SHURE SM57. John used a Sennheiser 405 tube michrophone and a SHURE SM57 with an Altec Salt Shaker on the kick.
Ray's and Robby's amp's microphones were AKG C12As.
A Neumann U87 was on Ray's bass and the audience microphone was a Neumann SM69 in stereo.
This is what they used on the AL tour, I don't know what they used in studio.
Fuck Jeff Milner!!!

Those were mikes brought by Bruce to capture, in this case, the Detroit show.
They were not owned by the Doors.
Besides that, that is not an SM57.

Mikes used

Post by vince »

From approximately March of 1968 until I was dismissed in 1972 the Doors used EV-676 mikes for all vocals and AKG-D1000 mikes for the drums. I still have them.

During the time that Bruce Botnick was recording "Other Voices, he used other mikes he felt were more suitable for the job he needed to do. There were other occasions that other mic's were used - during the absolutely live recordings. In some cases separate mic's were used for drums and backup vocals and Jim had a special vocal mic.
