I hope FreedomMan don't get mad at me for asking this, but why have you chosen to talk to the fans in a place where barely anyone will see it? I love FreedomMans site, but I'm curious why you aren't doing this on the official Doors board, or on John, Robby or Ray's site where you'd get huge exposure? Do you not get along with the guys currently or their new manager? Or is it something else?

Believe me, it can be frustrating.

But the only simply fact is, is that my website is related to trading, a forbidden word on the official board.Every time I wanted to post something on that board Dave took it off because of my site.I can only post links to my site if it has not got any links to trading pages.
But Dave was good to me and I have to follow the rules.Still pitty.

But if I can make some changes on my site, leave out the trading...

Wish I could get more attention, so any help is welcome!

The Freedom Man

No one, especially Freedom Man, will be angry with anyone asking questions. Freedom Man made this place for YOU to talk to ME. Why should I be on any site but this?

Do I get along with the guys? In these days they do not communicate with me. Truth be known, John is the only one who has ever answered a message I sent to them.

As for their new Manager - I do not even know who he is. There is no real reason why I should either. The group and I separated in February of 1972. I did not meet any of them until the movie was made in 1990 when I met John and Robbie and, as a result fo the conflict between Ray and Stone, wherein I sympathized with Rays position, but not his tactics, we had severl phone calls.

The Boys have followed their own paths since the demise of the group. That is most regrettable. Had they asked, I would have been more than willing to work with them again. They did not ask. I am not sure I agree with the present activities of the Ray and John. I am quite upset by the rift that has grown between John, on the one hand and Ray and Robbie on the other. That is most regrettable.

Rather than exploit the 3 recordings I made of the boys during my tenure with them, I sold them the original tapes. I made the tapes when working for them. I assume they trusted that I would never commercialize them and I did not.

I am not now, now was I ever one of the Doors. I was a loyal and reliable employee. There is no reason, and I am not sure there is a way, that I could or should be part of their "Site".
This is my "Site" made for you - and me - to communicate. If you like that, take advantage. If you think this is not an oft visited site, then do your best to make it known to pthers so that Freedom Man will feel it worthy of his efforts to maintain.

I am a teacher by nature and I like to communicate. This place is your chance to give me that opportunity. I am not always faithful about visiting every day to answer your questions. However, I assure you that your questions will be answered, If not today, then surely tomorrow. I work hard every day and sometimes I am a little tired or distracted so I don't always get to open the messages but I will reply to any and every question that I find posted.

So - Here is me and me is here. If you want to visit and ask - that's fun with me. And if you want to make it more popular, then tell your friends, or others, who would be interested in comms with me or discussions of other topics on this board.

As for the boys, I can say that I gave up my home and a career to be with the group. I respected their music and when I came to know them, each of the boys. I enjoyed working with them immensly. Yes, I was well paid. But for a job like that, no amount of money is enough. The real pay came with each performance. That is until Jim began to engage in behavior neither acceptable to his fans nor to the group. As "Free Musicians", I think the boys are among the most talented and least recognized in the field of Popular Music. Robbies abilities certainly rival that of the best classical musicians. My little drummer boy brought more sound, more Music from his simple seet of drums than any of the drumm players in the field then or now. He did not need 20 cymbals and double basses and 16 floor toms to play. He just drove a solid beat and wonderful rhythms using interesting combinations of the durmmers art.
Remember that Ray was a formally trained pianist. His talen was never fully realized. I felt it unfortunate that his passion for the Chicago Blues style led to a departure of the style of music that made the group famous. That does not detract from his talent. As for Jim, He id dead and one should not speak ill of the dead.

- Could you tell us which recordings you have made?

There were three recodings made. Seattle & Vancouver and the third was Bakersfield. These were done in 1969 I believe,

These were pirated by the producer of a radio program done in 1989 in LA about the Doors in and development of their music. I believe it was Ray, that got an injunction and stopped the subsequent sale of recording of the program by the producer.

The Doors under the guidance of Ray and Dugarman purchased the master of those 3 recordings. I was promised copies thereof but this promise was never fulfilled. Probably Sugarman's revenge for my throwing him out of the reheasal studio many years before.

The quality of the tapes was pretty good. I was made by a pair of AKG-D1000 mikes set ont he stage left and right to pick up the sound coming through the speakes.

The Radio Copies were made by Dr. Demento on professional equipment. That was first generation. The subesquent reproductions were used in the radio show. Those masters, now 3rd generations, were used to make the thousands of copies (4th Generation) of the radio show that were sold after the show aired. The sale of these was stopped in 1991.

I heard that there were other recordings that Bill Siddons was in possession of, but refused to give them to The Doors since he was fired. Do you know if that true?

I have not "Chosen" to write here. I was invited by the person who created this site.

This is a free and independant place for the exchange of information, ideas, questions and answers regarding many facets of the Doors as a group.

There is a Doors forum. This is a place for the Foors, Ray, John and Robby to talk to their friends and people who want to ask questions and get answers directly from them. That place is NOT for me. I am NOT a Doors - Hinge maybe, but definitely not a member of that performing band.

Here, I am independant, I can provide my views of my experiences with those four wonderful people and the exciting time we worked together. My views, t experiences, activities and stories of incidents are mine. I do not speak in place of the members of the Doors or their past staff. I can speak about them, my relations, associations and what it waslike to work with them.

So, I render unto the Doors, that which is the Doors. I render unto this forum, created so you could hear my voice, that which is mine.

Now if you want to make it more popular, spread the word. Here is a place where yet "Other voices" can be heard. They will tell their friends and so on. It is called a chain reaction. This Forum would be the hotest place on the net.
