Ya that song is good--- but the overall release...what do you think of it?

Well, the setlist in Pittsburgh '70 was a bit boring....
I love just about every live version of 'Backdoor Man' & 'Five To One'- but the 'BDM/LH/FTO medley eats up so much time...But it was a good version of Five To One....Interesting how they dropped the 'Alababama song' portion of the medley, which was a staple of just about every Doors concert...(AS/BDM/FTO)

'Roadhouse Blues' reminded me of the Vancouver version, as in the second verse Jim sang the song in a different key...his 'doowop' section went on waaay to long.....

I don't care for the 'Mystery Train' jam- It's too long, goes nowhere, and eats up time that should be spent playing classic Doors songs...that being said, it's the best 'Mystery train' jam I've heard so far....

'Universal mind' was clearly the weakest version of that song ever performed- Jim's timing was off at one point, and his voice cracked.....

The highlight of this show was 'Someday soon', the only known live performance of the song other than Seattle '70...Almost a perfect version, but Jim forgot some words

(...TELEVISION bleeding like a harvest moon')

'When the Music's over was interesting in that it contained lyrics from 'Break on through, 'The Soft parade' and most interestingly- Push Push.....But by '70, WTMO was like a worn out 50 year old former beauty queen....a shadow of it's former self...
I would really like to know what direction 'Push push' would have taken..between this bit of Push Push in Pittsburgh, and the studio outtake, it seemed a Doors song that came very close to being created..but was ultimately abandoned...

'Close to You' featured a 'nails on chalkboard' vocal by Ray- the intro of which i think was pasted into the Felt Forum box.....

Overall? Better than Boston Arena or Seattle '70- but weaker than just about everything else...Excellent sound quality.

It bothered me how the tracks were listed.

WTMO and the medley within should have been listed as being a MEDLEY, rather than being seperate songs.

It should have been listed as:

When the Music's Over/Break on Through/Push push/The Soft Parade/My Eyes have Seen You/When The Music's Over' medley.

They did break into MEHSY instrumentation, although Jim didn't sing any part of the song......

As listed, people will assume the cd contains complete live versions of Break On Through, Push Push and The Soft Parade.

Almost as pleasant as that feedback noise Jim created during Seattle '70

ya..right in the middle of WTMO. It ruined what would have been a pretty good version. Not as bad as the feedback during Seattle.

Pittsburgh gets a bad rap, but frankly, I don't think it is as weak as others claim it is. Not that I would ever consider it to be among the best AL multitracks, but there are certainly some bright moments throughout.

For me Pitts is the worse 70 show excepting Seattle, they are nearly the same "performance".
The major difference is that Jim is just annoying in Pitts, in Seattle he gives the impression to try to kill the band.

i love detroit. and boston is also fantastic. pure jim, like bruce botnick said, the scream into roadhouse blues alone is worth the admission. can't stand the organ sound on the aquarius shows...

It's a shame BMR has nothing from '68. The Doors were at their best in '68.
Hollywood Bowl is incomplete, so I don't even count that performance...

Sorry for using the wrong abbreviation.

I'm a fan of the music who just wants to connect with other fans.

Sorry again.

It isn't necessarily a wrong abbreviation. It's just kind of funny. In the case of the Matrix 2-CD set, it's a perfect abbreviation.

Oh no, no worries and no need to be sorry. It is just funny. Many people use it....I just always think of the other term. So no, it was not the wrong abbreviation..you are actually using the right abbreviation.

Just makes me laugh :D

Buy them all. Some are dissapointing but I dont see the point in buying 2 or three , if you are going to collect do it properly.

BTW thanks those who put the links up for the outtakes the other day as I said in the Asbury thread I wish I could reciprecate with another UC recording.

I would start with the earliest show, and work my way forwards..as the Doors sound continued to change and evolve from year to year...

Listen to the '69 Aquarius show before you listen to any of the '70 BMR releases..
