Always great to see Robby. Good interview, I've never liked that interviewer though.

Just watched it again, and I can't believe I missed this the first time.

Robby says at about the 620 mark that on blues day they recorded "a bunch of ad lib blues songs, and the new song is one of those songs".

Well where are they??????????

On the interview? If it is, then I was only listening to it on my dying laptop, which meant I wouldn't have noticed it.

I Saw this today also. Pretty cool. Long interview.

Robby also says Jim didn't show up for day 1 of blues day. Lets stir up a little discussion and say that THAT was the day the band recorded tracks with Scheff which ended up on Other Voices. :D

I think RK just opened up a can of worms that Jampol probably didn't want us knowing. Robby leaked the info about the London Fog tape now this info about a bunch of ad lib blues songs. I think Jeff should be asked about those songs, including the ones recorded without Jim, before they the 3CD set is finalized.

Mystery Train - Yes it could very well be possible.

Wha - will do that now, doubt we'll get anything apart from jampolese in return!

Edit: so far Jampol says nothing at all.

How many studio catalogue re-issues does this make?

Acoustic Sounds are different in the sense that they pride themselves on being purely analogue. They use the actual source tapes, not the digital masters.

Good for audiophiles I guess, I just don't care about having yet another complete collection of the studio albums simply for the sake of a minor sonic improvement... but these are licensed releases. not "official" ones per se, right?

From Jeff regarding side 4 of vinyl set... We actually came up with a cool alternate, thanks to Bruce Botnick, whose idea it was: We replaced the Electric Lady with lyrics to songs on the record, in a concentric swirling pattern that winds, like the groove of a record, towards the center (label). These lyrics are etched into the vinyl.

...i have the 'la woman workshop sessions' LP and im really enjoying the sound...

..."when it was time to cut the lacquer masters, we took our final 96k/24-bit mix masters to Bernie Grundman at BGM to do all the final EQ and level prep, and then cut the masters on Bernie's all-tube/valve Westrex cutting system." - bruce botnick

...side 4 has all the songs lyrics itch'd in a circle...

One thing that has struck me for the first time listening to the outtakes is that Robbie lick in ROTS is almost a direct lift from Ghost Riders In The Sky. I know it has been stated before that it was an inspiration for the track, and maybe I’m only just ‘getting it’ but its much clearer in this outtake than on the released track, to me at least.
Ironically, Elvis Presley jammed to "Ghost Riders In The Sky" (with bassist Jerry Scheff) in the summer of 1970. Here's the rare 1970 Elvis recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI74RQlZMUo

Nada on the Botnick front since that last message. I'm not going to keep bugging him about it. He knows we'd like to hear from him and it's not like he's getting fan questions constantly sent to him. I'm thinking he just changed his mind about helping us out. Which is too bad. Not only does it make me look like an idiot for getting people's hopes up, but I was looking forward to his answers like everyone else.

No, come on Len. You don't have to feel like that.
People have different tempos and for sure Bruce's priorities are other than providing answers to fans. Probably there's some things goin on.
I wonder if this L.A. Woman releases are now part of history, meaning we're not having the 3CD set anymore. That worries me more.
Maybe he will answer later.

At $50 each none the less. I'd love to hear these, but I already have the last vinyl boxset and it sounds great.

What would be the difference with this new vinyl set?

I was wondering the same, cause the last vinyl set was supposed to be cut on tube gear.

the main difference is:

the vinyl box was made by digital process

the forthcoming vinyls are made by analog process with tubes, like old school records

Jeff has indicated on the official board that the 3CD set is not dead.
Most probably it will be a digital release but a physical 3CD set is still possible.
I think it's important to demostrate our interest in this release so that the things will not cool down and we will not loose for many years the oportunity to listen to the rest of the stuff.
