Vince, curious??

We're lucky to have former Doors road manager Vince Treanor here to answer fan questions and share some of his memories. Ask Vince about anything related to the equipment The Doors used, stage set-ups, specific concerts, the band after Jim's death, and working on the Oliver Stone movie.

Vince, curious??

Post by windchime »

I notice on this forum your last name is spelled Treanor, but in the movie credits it is listed as Traenor. I was wondering if you could illuminate on this HUGE mistake on such a HUGE project that does garner not only proper credit, but monies as well for the assitance given on the making of the film. I am able to find photos and info on Bill Siddons, but nothing but this site under the current spelling of your name here. I only ask as it would be nice to know more about your time with The Doors. I only know that you were the Equipment Manager and you worked on the movie "The Doors" as well as "The Doors: Live at the Hollywood Bowl" back in 1987. Let me know.

Thanks Vince~

The ancient and Honorable name

The name Treanor comes from Ireland wherin our family were quite well off and, indeed, of the landowners.

If you are in England and say Treanor - they will get the spelling perfectly the first time.

Why my name was so grossly misspelled in the movie credits I do not know. Remember that when the movie was released I was in China and, in fact, first saw the movie on Hong Kong TV.

I was appalled by the travesty perpetrated by Stone. I was sad, Angry and very disappointed that the distortion was so extensive. Than came the tail credits and I was equally shocked at the gross error.

Byt his time the movie had made the rounds and there was really nothing that could be done about it. But let us look at it this way. My name is correct on the Doors albums, in stories written wherein I am mentioned. That is about all that is required for my satisfaction, and for anyone who wishes to give me credit should they feel that credit is due

As for my experiences with the Doors. I have made several positngs of some of the segments - incidents - that are part of the Doors History. At this moment, they comprise some 169 pages. What I have written by no means covers the entire story. It is not complete even as it stands.

Writing is a sort of inspirational undertaking. You yourself have pointed this out in your various postings. When I am not over tired and I think of some incident - perhaps a result fo questions from people like yourself - I get excited enough to add more materials. Simetimes I write for hours and sometimes just copy what I have written to you and place it in a chronological position for later review, corrections and expounding on the topic.

You are welcome to follow links and find the stories. I hope they are informative and entertaining and answer many more of your questions.

Thanks for you post.
