An average recording session

Hey Vince

What where the recording sessions like towards the close of an album?

Was Jim around much? Did he attend sessions even if he wasn't recording vocals?

Did he have much studio imput?

As the years rolled on did he get harder to work with in the studio?

The studio sessions, as they neared the end of the recording of the album had the feeling of achievement and relief that the stress of takes and perfection were over.

The next step was going form the 8 or 16 tracks through mixdown process to the stereo master. That was where Paul was most active regards his concept of balance between instruments, of what kind and the vocal sections. It was here that Paul's ears were best in the business.

Jim would come to the mIx down sessions to hear what things sounded like as they became the track of choice for the album.

Jim's version of input was :Well, I think....", "Couldn't we....", or "Maybe we should...."

Of course when things went right he was all smiles and there was general excitement within the participants. Than, no comment was necessary.

As time and sessions went on he became more unrelaible. More than one vocal session was cancelled - and they paid for the minimum reserved time, because he did not show up for one or another reason.

Once in Studio and warmed up, thing generally went very well and a lot of takes were usually not too necessary.
