While we're on the topic....

Another new VU book is White Light/White Heat - The Velvet Underground Day By Day: http://www.richieunterberger.com/vu.html
(It's basically the VU version of 'The Doors On The Road.')

This excerpt is interesting as it pertains to Peter Abram's Matrix recordings: http://www.richieunterberger.com/vuexc10.html

Thanks for that, Porsche. It sounds like another must-have book. We'll have to find a buy two, get one free VU book sale or something.

This ain't your father's Beach Boys.....hey I love the Beach Boys, but if you haven't heard Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue......here's an 8 minute start.

Dennis was always thought of as the mildly talented drummer/partying Wilson brother. When he released this solo LP in '77.....WOW!

Reissued as a 3 LP collectors set...it's is amazing! His gravelly soulful rockin' voice of his own compositions...so good! No one knew! His manager heard this amazing piano and vocalizing coming from the studio and couldn't believe it was Dennis. Not only was he a drummer, unknown to all, he played a masterful piano, and several other instruments that were lying around the studio! Holy crap! Pacific Ocean Blue is remarkable! Here is pt 1 on youtube..you can find pt. 2, 3, 4 also!

Rockin' tracks, along with beautifully soulful songs....can't get enough.

"...saved by rock & roll" ( the second track!!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5aDk1oB ... re=related

=)...two amazing soulful songs for twilla and Mon and lauren and blossom....and all you romantic guys and ladies here!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7aqULVOrlQ
http://....this second link to "farewell My Friend" will not connect, but if you like, click in the side bar..it's good too!

Hey JTK, being the other MC5 fan here, ever heard this? Song about the famous Grande Ballroom in Detroit by lead singer Rob Tyner near the end of his life. Anybody else too, pretty good stuff but a lot deeper meaning when you know the history of the band and the unfortunate decline of the former premier venue in Detroit.

Have you been away, Suzanne? It seems like it's been awhile......

Listening to some Tom Waits....Heart Of Saturday Night I just love this song....always gets me a little choked up........
Great Sunday night music. Soundstage 1975. Though not as pretty as the LP cut with the upright bass slap....lovin' the album right now.

I do love Tom's early recordings most....there's a DEBATE there...the Asylum years.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_kaZb4jSss Grapefruit Moon A really nice alternate take with just piano and Tom......

One of the greatest guitars gods on the planet......Sonny Landreth

Loved by every other guitar god on the planet! He plays bottle neck slide on a Stratocaster with the "bottle" on his little finger so he can do amazing fret work above at the same time & plays with his fingers on his right hand so he can do fingerpicking, hand slap genius workin' lead.

Here is Uber-esso...his take on a super rush espresso high!! LOve it!!

and backing Letterman's favorite artist...this one sizzles!!

Ahh this is the nicest song ever. I'm kinda glad that E did this even though he butchered it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9Fv-_w1 ... re=related.

This board got me hooked now... His singing is surprisingly bad but he's kinda loveable in a way. I just have to watch his covers :D

Now for the Elvis cover of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RkTj7lR ... re=related - One of the most beautiful, heart-rending, and amazing covers ever IMO. His version is the best, though I ADORE Cash's version too

Seen some of it already but this is bound to make me smile every time  He's very uplifting... bless him. Love his little movements here.

Btw... How do you send him requests? I bet I can get him to do something epic.

seeing him??
ummm, we have already discussed this. YOU are doing E --RHB-- at Barney's.

yes, yes you are

And Eni-- just send him a message, then he gives you the "breakdown" of what you need to do to request a song. Then he puts you on his list.
