SF> We love alt takes and mixes!!

I recently found a MONO Spirit promo LP...their first with Fresh Garbage, Mechanical world. This is impossibly rare and has a couple tracks that sound really different in parts which is unusual for a '68 mono since those from 68 onward are usually just stereo mixdowns to mono.

hourofmagic> PET SOUNDS IN MY TOP FIVE "ALL TIME BEST" LPs!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiCRZLr9 ... annel_page

I remember when this first came out I think in 1987 it was. Still impressive to this day and their voices combined in one song..just magical. Totaly in love with it again. :)

Thanks, Mon. Beautiful, for sure! Kate Bush is SO underrated.....one of the first female singer/songwriters with that EDGE.....which inspired so many to come, like Tori Amos!
Both Peter & Kate are unique talents! Funny though, I can't stand Genesis!

Here's another great solo artist...RIP....what's your favorite Robert Palmer tune?

Yes Kate is so underrated James. She has a voice that can give chills on your spine, so beautiful and with Gabriel's voice in it ah so stunning. =)
It used to impress me a lot hearing it as a kid. Still does though I do not listen to it a lot.

Robert Palmer? Another artist gone way to soon sadly.
Not all to crazy about Robert Palmer though. I do not know much from him to be honest. I did like Addicted to love back then, but that video scared me more then Michael Jackson's Thriller ever did.

Ya, twilla....'74...his first LP.

i love that funky beat....you can hear that Little Feat influence.......FUNK FUSION!!!

Sneakin' Sally gets me dancing in my chair.....my feat are dancing .....shaking my desk right now now......sneakin' Sally through the allllley!!!

Now i gotta get over to some Little Feat...another great band!!! you know I often trash the 70's, but there was some great music coming out of there...even with the backlash knee-jerk reaction to '60's psych.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO3ZMdcL8Pc Dixie Chicken....won't you be.....?!!!

Getting that funk down!! =) =)

Nice pic, lauren.

I've heard so many interpretations. There is also a "Hotel California" in Baja California way down in Cabo........it is a destination for droves of students, etc, for the obvious reasons and the "infamous" hotel of song..... It's fun to dream but Eagles say it was just conceived (the whole album) while driving into LA with a beautiful California sunset on the horizon.

Great song. Great LP. I love songs/albums that have a life of their own....that's what makes them timeless, I guess.

Jo Jo Gunne - "Run Run Run"

...one of the best Rock Bands to come out of the L.A. music scene in the early 70's. The band's line up include bass player Mark Andes, Guitarist Matt Andes, Keyboardist and Vocalist Jay Ferguson and Curly Smith on Drums. Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes formed the band after leaving Spirit, one of the all time favorite innovative LA bands.
"Jo Jo Gunne became known for our strong live performances, much in part to our tight sound and Matt's incredible slide guitar,"
Says Jay Ferguson, he is simply amazing!
The band members have toured and recorded with a lot of Rock n Roll greats, including Heart, Joe Walsh, Firefall, Boston, John Hiatt, Stevie Nicks, John Hammond, Crosby Stills and Nash, John Mellencamp and many many more!!!

Love them too. I hear they are recording a new LP.

Spirit is there in my Top FIVE all time favorites. Still have their vinyl that i bought as each great LP was released!!

Spirit's live performances were legendary. Cass would start out on the drums (reputedly one of the largest array of percussive instruments ever, including timpani..rivals Floyd)..then each member would enter the hall from various entrances one by one, playing to a climax. Randy California is my favorite guitarist...Jimi liked him too!

Nice, lmg.
