I found a video of the highlight every year in the town I live. ( yeah I know it's boring)
It's a parade of oldtimer farm trucks or old timer fire trucks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOgnEZ_MgA4

And if you can't get enough of it lol. Here's another one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb10WXlQ ... re=related

I live here for now that is. If i go down stairs and take a little path to the right I'm in to the farm land called the Engh what you can see on the video's. The oldest part of Soest.
There is a pre historic grave too. And a windmill.

Good heaven, hundreds of it! Huge variety, big, small, all noisy...
I think I saw also an old army truck?

Where do they go? Just do some circles around Soest?

I guess from your mood I think it's like "seen it one, seem' all..." or "one time is enough". Right?

This time of the year around the place I live we have some sort of popular events.

It's not carnaval but after a few glasses of wine and some sardines you find it funny. It's a sort of a contests between some traditional villages of old Lisbon. They have a big prize and also secondary prizes for best coreography, songs, and I don't know what more. Tourists just love it. Lots of colours, dance and music. Wine is good too.

It really does look a bit like Carnaval. People are enjoying. :D

The just do some circles around Soest line is correct.
We even have those truck races in mud. Where drunk farmers get stuck in the mud. It's ...it's.. I can't find the word...

Boring.

I'm trying to think of other events but I seriously can't think of any..

Yes we have a windmill for tourists.

I don't know people always seem moody in this town all the time. No one says hello or anything. Just pretty dead.

Lissabon looks beautiful Victor. It has a great historic past. Thank you for sharing the video's. :D

Anyway the good part is that Soest is just a small part of Holland and for sure you have a beautiful and colourful country. A reference in the past and in the present in culture, sports, technology in many fields (among the ones I can briefly remember) :)

Yes dirty.

It's true Holland can be very beautiful. Don't know, just don't feel connected. Not even Amsterdam anymore. Now that says a lot.

Have a great Sunday evening Victor. :D

I remember one time (quite some years ago) I got pretty drunk with a night of drinking only absinthe. Me and a cousin of mine.
I kinda remember only 3 glasses, maybe it was more, I don't know.
He still says it was 63% of alcohol absinthe. From what I know absinthe might reach 70%... Perhaps it wasn't also the real thing.
Anyway, I remember we had to wait for many hours till I was in condition to drive, but it was just drunkness. I didn't saw God!

Well that doesn't sound so bad. You don't need to drink absinthe for that. a bottle of wine will do just fine.

I heard of the real stuff that it can give a LSD or mushroom kinda like experience.
I've tried several types of drugs many years ago but that always was a big no no. So drinking absinthe yes makes me curious but I wont drink it.
I'll settle for a normal glass of wine or other drinks and some good weed every now and then.

But your experience wasn't so bad SF? That's good. :D Cause I heared stories from people drinking it and it can become pretty scary if you're not in a good mood and it takes your mind a different way. Don't want. =)

If you do a search you can find some pages describing the absinthe experience. I think the reaction like many other drugs is quite variable among people. Here's a good one:

http://www.absinth.bz/articles/effects-of-absinth.html

...For starters, if your senses are well awake and you have not numbed them with previous alcohol drinking, you will realize that the feeling of being drunk is obvious. Although your body is noticeably impaired just as with a common alcoholic beverage, your mind remains clear and sharp. Your powers of concentration are distorted, you can feel, listen, taste and smell better, colors will seem brighter.

You can forget about the entire world by simply concentrating in a melody, the weight of clothes on your body or going inside your mind. You will perceive things very clearly and can look at a daily chore with a whole new perspective. Enjoy the new way your senses awake, this is probably why artists like it so much, as whatever you do your senses are given a real feast. If you enjoy music, listen to a nice song. Test your sense of touch in different surfaces and you will be like a small child, discovering sensations by palpating objects you touch every single day. I recommend taking small samples of everyday food. Try and not to focus too much in one thing (which is quite difficult) and be aware of your surroundings.

The effects don't last long, and you will then be plain drunk. A word of caution about the effects of absinth, you will have a sleepless night, or at least, you'll feel you haven't slept with strong vivid dreams. You also wake up a tad jittery the next day, so take things slowly and try not to have one of those hectic days, it's better to rest and have a quiet evening at home...

I'm getting the conclusion that on that night I probably drank fake stuff.

Absinthe is very strong and, with a little sugar and a dash of water, goes down quick. It's hard to find in the US, but pretty easy to locate in Europe under various names. I believe all these strange experiences people have talked about for years are just the effects of being really drunk and nothing to do with any special properties in the drink. All these artists who used to drink it would drink a lot of it. Drink a lot of anything strong and you'll start to see things. There's never been enough wormwood in absinthe to cause any hallucinations. As with a placebo, the imagination can be a powerful thing, and if you think you're supposed to see or feel something when you drink it then you probably will.

That's a valid point. Indeed with all these stories about it, imagination can give it a placebo effect problaby.
I heard some years a go from a former friend who drank it and he said he went crazy. Saw things in his yard that were not there. Got a feeling of panic.

But then again I saw people react the same way to drinking Raki. Drink one big glass of that and your inside will burn. And you will feel like your walking upside down.

Had that just once and pfff. lol
No absinthe for me though. It's easy to get here and legal. But no.

*raises her glass of wine*

When something is illigal the market will fall in criminal hands and it's hard to control any of the stuff that floods the streets.
With a great chance of the stuff being dirty and even more dangerous.

Not that I am for legalizing hard drugs, like XTC and coke and all that.
But I do know that here in clubs many times XTC are tested.
People can bring in their stuff they bought and let it test for "safety" before taking the stuff without having the risk of being arrested.
Wich to me seems like a good idea. Cause especially the very young will take it anyway. When they do have the chance to test it they most likely will do so, wich at least will make the risk of something fatal happening much less. They also will be givin advice on drinking extra water and what to do when something goes wrong.

I don't think any alcoholic drink is illigal here. Not that I know of.
Only that it's forbidden to serve alcohol under the age of 16.

Lovemygirl, your grandma was right. Having one to two glasses of red wine a day is very good for health.

Just chilling out with a glass of wine and some Sinatra:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3pv_GKDEec

Whilst high, I discovered an album called "High Grade Ganja Anthems" which contained the classic "Police In Helicopter"...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMGCbgpIf3E

Yes boss, yes boss, yes boss, yes boss...

Police in helicopter, a search fi marijuana.
Police man in d streets, searching fi collie weed.
Soldiers in d field, burnin d collie weed.
But if you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
Soldier in d herb field, burnin d collie weed.
Police in helicopter, a search fi marijuana.
Police man in d streets, searching fi collie weed.
But if you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
Ohh

Police in helicopter, a search fi marijuana.
Police man in d streets, searching fi collie weed.
Police men in d fields, burnin d collie weed.
But if you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.

We don't trouble your banana, we don't trouble your corn.
We don't trouble your pimento, we don't trouble you at all.

So if you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
Woyy

Police in helicopter, a search fi marijuana.
Police man in d streets, searching fi collie weed.
Police man in d fields, woy yoooow, burnin d collie weed.
But if you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.
If you continue to burn up d herbs, we gonna burn down d cane fields.

Some local pride here, Mon......a fantastic singer/songwriter with a soaring acoustic style and some unique tunings. from his "Gertrude's Barn" LP.

Play it LOUD...some good stuff here twilla. Live from our local River Roots concert. Outdoor audio is ok.....wish it was a little better, but give him a shot.

Thanks James. Gonna have a listen to it later on. :D Just rolled out of bed and might roll back in again.

Local lady? You mean Anouk? Yes she is great. Love her so much.
As a person and artist she is amazing. She had a rough life but fought her way up so well. My fave Dutch female artist. =)

Some years ago she had talks in the US. They wanted to give her a contract in the USA. But they wanted her to change her image and style in to a Britney, Christina Aquilera, Pink kinda way.
She said hell to the no and refused. True to herself and her work. I admire her on all parts.
And man, that woman knows how to sing live. The Golden Earring called her a stage beast. And they are right. She rocks.

Gonna listen to your clip today James.
