Sure Lauren. I was thinking in a third one because when I said Seattle version is better I was comparing it with the Pitts one.Lauren wrote:Its on Pittsburgh 70 I believe..?Silver Forest wrote:Well Tomi, not the best song for me but I sure like it! A studio version would be gold

LA Woman is pretty disturbing too ......after seeing the music video, SF......Silver Forest wrote:Well Tomi, not the best song for me but I sure like it! The Seattle version is by far superior. I wonder if another version exists.King Morrison wrote:Someday Soon...

Some really dark, disturbing Doors songs:
The End
Cars Hiss By My Window
Someday Soon
End of the Night
Hyacinth House
Moonlight Drive
Not surprisingly some of the best ones!
Perhaps one day we can add Paris Blues to this list.

That's true James, but for me LAW will be always a fantastic driving Doors song. Jim's love declaration to LA. He was writing and singing the last pages of his legend. LAW first, Riders last. Love that album.jamestkirk wrote:LA Woman is pretty disturbing too ......after seeing the music video, SF......Silver Forest wrote:Well Tomi, not the best song for me but I sure like it! If I could capture that momment when I was listening a Doors song for the first time (at least knowing it was a song from this group)... I would love feel again those seconds: Mr Mojo risin, risin, risin, oh risin, risin! I asked myself: what the hell is this? It's... it's... great!
Man, that was a thrilling introduction to my favourite band. A few days after I was buying the LP. Alllright!!!

Same for me, SF. LAW is a great driving song for sure!! I can separate the video from the song as I heard the song 30 years before I saw the video and always loved it. I remember camping at Lake Louis is Canada in the Grand Teton Mts (awe inspiring) in '73. As our fire burned low a next door camper played the whole LA Woman cassette and I get that feeling of wide open nature every time I hear it. Not exactly the LA freeway, but memories will have their way. "Riders On The Storm" does have a wild wind, wild horses, night sky filled with lightning, kind of feel for me.
Interesting as to how each of you found the DOORS and through which LP. I had no choice. I bought each as they were released, starting in 1967. One LP at a time. So each record has it's own respective and rightful place in time for me.
I like how you discovered them, SF.

About 4 years ago, a Johnny Cash tribute band called Cash'd Out opened for Wild Child at The Whisky and the show was great! Great tribute band. They played the Viper Room last night. Looks like I might make the show at Canes in Mission Beach on July 25th. Anyway..I took some pics of Cash'd Out when they opened for WC at The Whisky.Eni wrote:

All the things Ive done when I was alone I cant understand myself
Its amazing, you amaze me
My life begins with the songs I sing and the love you bring to me
Its amazing, you amaze me

WOW! Love that Elektra super group! They were Elektra's answer to Cream. Drummer from the Mother's and some really great musicians!! Google em!The Royal Sperm wrote:where are they from? never heard of themlovemygirl wrote:rhinoceros - "i will serenade you"
The LP cover is awesome too....!!!!
A 60's LA band!! Never took off as you might guess, but the first album did well enough. (NOT the Japanese band of the 90's)
Can't find a music clip...easy to find on ebay etc I'll post their beautiful cover at Mon's album post.

Thanks, lmg. You like them too? They were a Paul Rothchild brainchild.
Probably looking for another Doors in '67. Hard rock with a blues mix.
Danny Weiss has a myspace about being in the band.
BTW....Elektra even used a similar LOGO type like the DOORS for the band's name.

Me either...plenty of inexpensive CDs at Musicstack and Collectors Choice Music. I think it is OOP print, though it says NEW (2002).The Royal Sperm wrote:well, i can't find where to DL flac files of them ...
I think it's worth the $11 or $12 ...any one else agree? If it's not OOP I would be uneasy putting a DL out there.
You can PM me..I would rip one for you.
